Synopsis
As Shohoku trains for its decisive prefectural game against Ryonan, Haruko Akagi is approached by former schoolmate Akane Mizusawa. Akane explains that her younger brother, talented junior-high captain Ichiro Mizusawa, has developed a serious medical condition that will prevent him from continuing to play basketball.
Ichiro's final wish is to share a court with Kaede Rukawa, the senior player he admires from Tomigaoka Junior High. Coach Mitsuyoshi Anzai therefore arranges an internal Shohoku scrimmage, allowing Ichiro to play alongside and against Rukawa, Hanamichi Sakuragi, and the other regulars. The anime-original film is a character-focused interlude placed shortly before the television series' Ryonan rematch.
