Vueroeruko

Vueko is gentle, anxious and deeply compassionate. Years of abuse before joining Ganja leave her with extremely low self-worth, and she often assumes that her own suffering matters less than the needs of people around her.

Her bond with Irumyuui brings out a nurturing side. Vueko recognizes the girl's loneliness and becomes the person she trusts most, eventually functioning as a maternal figure despite Vueko's own doubts about whether she deserves that affection.

Vueko is also more willing than most of Ganja to question the human cost of survival. When circumstances become desperate, she struggles intensely with decisions that others accept as necessary.

Vueko is an ordinary human without Relics or supernatural combat abilities. Her survival through Ganja's expedition demonstrates resilience, but she is not presented as one of its principal fighters.

She possesses practical expedition experience and eventually becomes closely connected with the network of signals running through Iruburu.

While imprisoned beneath the village, Vueko remains linked to Irumyuui and can perceive the voices and experiences of its inhabitants through the village itself.

Vueko joins Ganja after Wazukyan predicts that she will accompany the expedition. After reaching the Abyss, she becomes especially close to Irumyuui, a native child rejected by her people because she cannot bear children.

When Ganja becomes trapped in the Sixth Layer and contaminated water leaves its members dying, Irumyuui is given a Cradle of Desire. Her wishes transform her body and cause her to produce creatures whose consumption saves the expedition.

Vueko eventually attempts to end her own life rather than accept what is happening to Irumyuui, but Wazukyan prevents her. After Irumyuui's body becomes Iruburu, Vueko is imprisoned beneath the village for opposing its creation and remains there for roughly 150 years.

Irumyuui becomes the person Vueko loves most and regards her as a mother. Vueko's anguish over Irumyuui's transformation drives her opposition to the events that create Iruburu.

Wazukyan leads Ganja and recognizes Vueko as someone destined to join them. Their relationship becomes antagonistic when Vueko rejects the sacrifices through which Wazukyan ensures Ganja's survival.

Belaf is another of Ganja's Three Sages and shares the expedition's ordeal in the Sixth Layer.

Riko frees Vueko from her imprisonment and learns much of Iruburu's history through her.

Faputa is Irumyuui's final child. Vueko recognizes her connection to Irumyuui during Iruburu's destruction.
