Personality
Personality
Irumyuui is initially shy, cautious and distrustful of strangers. Rejection by her tribe has left her emotionally vulnerable, but Vueko's affection allows her to open up and behave more like an ordinary child.
She desperately wants a family and places enormous emotional importance on motherhood because her inability to have children was the reason her tribe rejected her. She becomes deeply attached to Vueko and also develops affection for Belaf.
Irumyuui is caring toward animals as well. She adopts a small Hermit-Dweller during Ganja's time in the Sixth Layer and is devastated when it is killed by a predator.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Irumyuui begins as an ordinary human child. Her knowledge of her people's language and the Abyss makes her useful to Ganja as an interpreter and guide.
After becoming critically ill, she is given a Cradle of Desire, an Egg of the Greed capable of granting wishes but particularly dangerous when used by adults whose desires are complex. Irumyuui's wishes for children, relief from illness and other deeply rooted desires combine in unpredictable ways, transforming her body.
Her transformed body becomes enormous and develops the ability to produce children repeatedly. Eventually that body becomes the living structure of Iruburu itself, with the power to transform people who surrender themselves to it into Narehate reflecting their desires and values.
Story Role
Story Role
Irumyuui meets Ganja before its descent and accompanies the expedition into the Abyss. She warns the travelers about the Curse and remains with them when they become permanently trapped in the Sixth Layer.
Contaminated pseudo-water eventually makes Irumyuui and much of Ganja gravely ill. Wazukyan gives her a Cradle of Desire, and her transformation begins producing short-lived children. The creatures prove capable of curing the illness when eaten, leading Ganja to consume them to survive despite Irumyuui's grief.
Further use of the Cradles transforms Irumyuui into the foundation of Iruburu. Her final surviving child, Faputa, is born outside the village carrying the accumulated value of her siblings and her mother's desire for vengeance.
Relationships
Relationships
Vueroeruko becomes Irumyuui's closest parental figure. Their shared experience of rejection helps them bond, and Irumyuui comes to regard Vueko as family.
Belaf is another Ganja member whom Irumyuui loves as a parental figure. She later entrusts memories of her human life to him so that they can eventually reach Faputa.
Wazukyan leads the expedition Irumyuui joins. His decisions involving the Cradles of Desire and her children are central to Ganja's survival and Irumyuui's transformation.
Faputa is Irumyuui's final child and the only one of her children to survive independently. She inherits her mother's accumulated rage and desire to avenge her siblings.
