Patty

Patty is boisterous, aggressive and proud of his work. His formal greetings are transparently performative, disappearing as soon as a customer causes trouble or admits to having no money.

He quarrels frequently with Sanji over etiquette and temperament. Patty considers Sanji’s willingness to feed dangerous enemies reckless, though he ultimately respects the principle behind it.

Despite his roughness, Patty is loyal to the Baratie and its staff. He risks his life against the Krieg Pirates and participates in the cooks’ attempt to push Sanji toward his own dream.

Patty is a trained chef who handles the Baratie’s cooking and customer service. His culinary ability is genuine even though his approach to hospitality is blunt.

He possesses considerable physical strength and experience in brawls. Like the other Baratie cooks, he is a former troublemaker hired partly because he can help defend the restaurant.

Patty operates the Sabagashira I, a fish-shaped attack vessel deployed from the Baratie. The craft carries cannons and allows him to confront pirate ships at sea.

He has no confirmed Devil Fruit or Haki. His weapons, strength and familiarity with the restaurant’s defenses make him effective against ordinary attackers but insufficient against Don Krieg’s senior forces.

Patty first appears when Fullbody visits the Baratie and attempts to impress his date. He participates in the staff’s confrontation with the Marine after Sanji exposes his deception about wine and humiliates him.

When the starving Gin arrives without money, Patty throws him out. Sanji secretly gives Gin food, setting in motion the events that bring Don Krieg to the restaurant.

Patty initially helps feed the exhausted Krieg Pirates after Gin returns with their captain. He then defends the Baratie when Krieg betrays that hospitality and attempts to seize the ship.

After the battle, Patty and the other cooks insult Sanji and pretend to dislike his cooking so he will feel free to leave. Their emotional farewell reveals the affection concealed by years of arguments.

Zeff is Patty’s employer and head chef. Patty follows Zeff’s standards even when he complains about the risks created by feeding enemies.

Carne is Patty’s closest coworker and fighting partner. The two applied to work at the Baratie together and regularly defend it side by side.

Sanji is Patty’s colleague and frequent rival in the kitchen. Patty criticizes his behavior but helps persuade Sanji to pursue the All Blue.

Gin is the starving pirate Patty expels before Sanji feeds him. Don Krieg repays the restaurant’s aid by attacking it.

Fullbody’s confrontation with Sanji provides Patty’s first major customer-service scene.
