Krieg Don

Krieg is arrogant, treacherous and obsessed with being recognized as the strongest. He interprets preparation and weaponry as proof of personal superiority, even when another person’s power has already destroyed his fleet.

He treats agreements and hospitality as weaknesses to exploit. Hunger does not humble him, and defeat does not readily change his belief that sufficient weapons, poison or manpower will guarantee victory.

Krieg values his crew primarily as military resources. He wants surviving men fed so they can restore his fleet, but he readily exposes them to poison gas and punishes disobedience without regard for loyalty.

His self-image depends on denying evidence of inferiority. Even after Luffy breaks through his armor and weapons, Krieg continues declaring himself the winner until Gin incapacitates and removes him.

Krieg possesses exceptional physical strength and wears Wootz-steel armor covered with concealed weapons. His equipment includes firearms, blades, flamethrowers, stakes, nets and explosive projectiles.

His principal weapon is the Mighty Battle Spear, a massive polearm whose head triggers explosions on impact. Krieg’s strength allows him to swing it repeatedly despite its size and weight.

He also uses MH5, a poison-gas weapon capable of killing everyone across a wide area. Gas masks protect selected crew members, allowing Krieg to weaponize an environment that is lethal to allies and enemies alike.

Krieg has no confirmed Devil Fruit or Haki. His 17,000,000-berry bounty, large fleet and arsenal make him a major East Blue threat, but his encounter with Mihawk demonstrates how little those advantages mean against the Grand Line’s elite.

Krieg leads his fleet into the Grand Line without adequate understanding of its dangers. Dracule Mihawk destroys forty-nine ships, pursuing the flagship back into the East Blue.

Gin reaches the Baratie first and later returns with his starving captain. Sanji feeds Krieg, who regains his strength and announces that he will take the restaurant.

Mihawk arrives and finishes destroying the flagship before departing to duel Zoro. Krieg then attacks the Baratie directly, deploying armor, poison gas and the surviving pirates against its cooks.

Luffy defeats Krieg by breaking through his defenses and sending both of them through the wreckage beneath the fighting platform. Krieg refuses to acknowledge the loss until Gin strikes him unconscious and carries him away.

Krieg eventually reaches the Grand Line again and is later seen on Hachinosu with Gin and Pearl during Vegapunk’s broadcast. The circumstances of his arrival and current allegiance are not explained.

Gin is Don Krieg’s combat commander and most capable subordinate. Krieg relies on Gin’s loyalty but responds to his disobedience by exposing him to lethal poison.

Pearl serves as one of Krieg’s officers and defensive specialists. Krieg deploys Pearl against the Baratie cooks before Gin defeats him.

Sanji saves Krieg from starvation. Krieg repays the act by attacking the restaurant, confirming Sanji’s warning that kindness does not guarantee gratitude.

Monkey D. Luffy rejects Krieg’s claim that weapons and fleet size make him strongest. Their battle ends with Luffy breaking through the armor and defeating him.

Dracule Mihawk annihilates Krieg’s fleet in the Grand Line and follows the flagship back to the Baratie. Krieg regards the disaster as bad luck rather than accepting the scale of Mihawk’s superiority.

Zeff owns the Baratie and possesses the Grand Line experience Krieg wants. Krieg plans to steal both the restaurant and Zeff’s logbook.
