Moogie

Moogie is friendly, direct and patient. Years of dealing with customers from different backgrounds have made them comfortable speaking openly with strangers and explaining unfamiliar customs.

They are especially patient with Riko's questions, helping her learn words used throughout Iruburu rather than dismissing her as an outsider. Moogie also retains an adventurer's curiosity beneath the settled routine of restaurant life.

Moogie's attachment to Iruburu is affectionate but not blindly possessive. They understand that the village provides a home for people who had nowhere else to go while still remembering the desire to continue exploring the Abyss.

Moogie is an accomplished cook capable of serving the varied appetites of Iruburu's inhabitants. If a customer can adequately describe a desired flavor, Moogie can attempt to reproduce it using available ingredients.

They are multilingual, speaking both Iruburu's language and the common language used by human delvers as well as additional languages learned through contact with customers.

Their Narehate form has four leg-like limbs and mobile sensory appendages around the head. These allow Moogie to monitor cooking even while facing away from the food and handle several tasks simultaneously.

Moogie meets Riko when she visits the Narehate restaurant. The meal and conversation give Riko a more comfortable opportunity to learn how Iruburu functions after her confusing first encounters with the village.

Moogie explains aspects of the local language, introduces useful vocabulary and helps Riko determine where she might find Reg and Nanachi. They later participate in defending the village when a Fuzosheppu attacks.

As Iruburu begins collapsing, Moogie accepts that the village's time has reached its end and helps the travelers rather than blaming them. Like the other inhabitants whose forms depend upon Iruburu, Moogie cannot simply leave and continue life outside it.

Riko becomes one of Moogie's customers and receives help learning Iruburu's language and searching for her companions.

Reg and Nanachi are the companions Riko is searching for when Moogie helps point her in the right direction.

Wazukyan is a frequent customer at Moogie's restaurant and is casually introduced to Riko there.

Majikaja shares Moogie's attachment to Iruburu and the lingering desire to continue adventuring.

Vueroeruko surprises Moogie because, despite Moogie's long residence in Iruburu, they have never seen her among the villagers before.
