Reg

Reg is gentle, cautious and highly protective. He is much more reluctant than Riko to rush into danger and frequently acts as the practical counterweight to her overwhelming curiosity. Despite possessing extraordinary strength, he is emotionally sensitive and can be frightened, embarrassed or overwhelmed easily.

His attachment to his companions is intense. Reg readily puts himself in danger to protect Riko and later Nanachi, but his emotional responses can also undermine his judgment. He is particularly distressed when forced to hurt others.

Reg's amnesia leaves him insecure about his own identity. Encounters with people and places that seem to recognize him gradually reveal that he had relationships and objectives before Riko found him, even if he cannot consciously remember them.

Reg's artificial body possesses immense strength, durability and agility. Ozen can slam him into stone without destroying him, and his body survives injuries that would be fatal to a human. His senses of smell and hearing are exceptionally acute.

Each arm can extend up to 40 metres, allowing Reg to cross gaps, climb cliffs, restrain enemies and retrieve distant objects. His hands can be detached while remaining controllable through their cables.

His most powerful weapon is the Incinerator, an energy blast capable of destroying matter and overcoming phenomena that otherwise appear inviolable. Using it consumes enormous energy and ordinarily causes Reg to lose consciousness for roughly two hours afterward. White Whistle activation can draw out a substantially greater level of power from his body.

Riko discovers Reg during a cave-raiding expedition after he saves her from a Crimson Splitjaw. She secretly brings him back to the Belchero Orphanage, where attempts to examine his artificial body provide few answers about his origin.

When Riko decides to descend permanently into the Abyss in search of Lyza, Reg accompanies her. His immunity to the Curse and physical abilities make the journey possible, while his missing memories give him his own reason to seek the deepest layers.

Evidence accumulated during the descent reveals that Reg had already traveled through the deeper Abyss before losing his memories. Faputa recognizes him from that earlier journey, and later manga material continues uncovering connections between Reg and beings originating in the Seventh Layer.

Riko discovers Reg, gives him his familiar name and becomes his closest companion. He follows her toward the bottom of the Abyss while repeatedly risking himself to keep her alive.

Nanachi becomes Reg's close friend and traveling companion after helping save Riko. Reg is fascinated by Nanachi's fluffy body, much to their irritation.

Faputa knew Reg before his memory loss and considers him extremely important to her. His inability to remember their shared past deeply hurts her.

Lyza apparently knew Reg before he reached the surface, although the full circumstances of their connection remain unresolved.

Bondrewd studies Reg as an unprecedented Relic and becomes one of his most dangerous opponents at Ido Front.

Prushka befriends Reg despite being distressed by his battle with her father.
