Mohji

Mohji is boastful, vindictive and frequently overconfident. He presents himself as a master of wild animals but depends heavily on Richie to perform the actual fighting.

He readily destroys property and attacks weaker opponents when carrying out Buggy’s orders. His treatment of Chouchou shows little regard for loyalty or personal loss.

Mohji is also competitive within his own crew. When Buggy disappears, he fights Cabaji for the captaincy, only for both men to exhaust themselves before a winner can be decided.

Mohji is an animal tamer who directs Richie through spoken commands and established training. His broader claim that no animal can resist him is not supported by extensive demonstrations beyond his relationship with the lion.

He carries a whip and possesses enough agility to ride Richie in combat. Most of his offensive power nevertheless comes from the lion’s claws, teeth and physical strength.

Mohji has no confirmed Devil Fruit or Haki. His combat ability is modest compared with the stronger officers and captains encountered later in the series.

His long experience with the Buggy Pirates gives him basic seafaring and command competence. Official material continues to identify him as the crew’s vice-captain even after Buggy’s organization expands.

Mohji enters the Orange Town conflict after Buggy orders him to dispose of Luffy. He finds Luffy trapped in a cage beside Chouchou and directs Richie to attack both the prisoner and the pet-food shop.

After Richie destroys the store, Luffy escapes and defeats the lion and Mohji with a single strike. Mohji remains unconscious through much of the subsequent battle against Buggy.

During Buggy’s cover story, Mohji and Cabaji duel for leadership of the stranded crew. Richie defeats both accidentally while sleepwalking and is proclaimed captain until the group reunites with Buggy.

Mohji later participates in the Loguetown pursuit of Luffy and enters the Grand Line with the combined Buggy and Alvida group. He reunites with Buggy after the Summit War and becomes part of Buggy’s expanding pirate organization.

Buggy is Mohji’s captain. Mohji follows his orders and benefits from his growing reputation, though he attempts to replace him when the crew believes Buggy is gone.

Richie is Mohji’s animal partner and primary means of fighting. Their bond is longstanding, but Richie’s appetite and limited understanding often undermine Mohji’s commands.

Cabaji is Mohji’s fellow officer and rival for internal authority. Their contest for the captaincy ends without either man securing the position.

Chouchou resists Mohji’s attack on the pet-food shop. Monkey D. Luffy defeats Mohji in retaliation for the destruction.
