Personality
Personality
Cabaji is theatrical, proud and unscrupulous in battle. He announces his techniques with elaborate titles and uses spectacle to disguise attacks that rely on practical deception.
He considers exploiting an opponent’s wounds fair strategy. When Zoro accuses him of targeting an injury, Cabaji openly accepts the charge rather than pretending to follow a chivalric code.
Within the crew, he is competitive and status-conscious. He rivals Mohji for authority during Buggy’s absence but remains loyal once the captain returns.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Cabaji is a skilled swordsman and acrobat capable of fighting while balancing on a unicycle. His mobility lets him change angles quickly and supplement sword strikes with kicks, leaps and projectiles.
His techniques include Murder at the Steam Bath, a blinding cloud of dust; Mountain Climb, a rapid vertical ascent; Kamikaze Hundred Gyro Tops, which scatters spinning tops across the battlefield; and several acrobatic sword attacks.
Cabaji can endure significant injury and continue fighting. Against Zoro, however, he is decisively outmatched once Zoro demonstrates that his existing wound does not excuse defeat.
He has no confirmed Devil Fruit or Haki. Official material identifies him as the Buggy Pirates’ chief of staff rather than simply a “second mate.”
Story Role
Story Role
Cabaji fights Zoro during the Orange Town arc after Buggy’s forces occupy the settlement. He exploits the wound Buggy inflicted on Zoro and uses circus equipment to keep the swordsman off balance.
Zoro deliberately cuts his own wound to reject Cabaji’s attempted advantage, then defeats him with Onigiri. Cabaji survives and remains one of Buggy’s core officers.
During Buggy’s cover story, Cabaji and Mohji fight through the night for the right to become captain. Richie knocks both unconscious while sleepwalking and is mistakenly declared the winner.
Cabaji later participates in the Loguetown operation and enters the Grand Line with the crew. After reuniting with Buggy following the Summit War, he holds a senior position within Buggy’s larger organization.
Relationships
Relationships
Buggy is Cabaji’s captain. Cabaji obeys him in battle and later benefits from Buggy’s increasingly inflated public status.
Mohji is Cabaji’s fellow officer and internal rival. Their competition for leadership is intense but does not permanently divide the crew.
Richie accidentally defeats both officers during their duel and briefly takes command. Cabaji accepts the outcome until Buggy returns.
Roronoa Zoro is Cabaji’s principal opponent. Cabaji targets his wound and uses multiple tricks, but Zoro defeats him through superior swordsmanship and endurance.
