Mogura Kugurugi

Mogura is arrogant, competitive and theatrical. She boasts about being a winner even after being disqualified from the Wedding Feast and takes considerable pride in being the Kugurugi representative.

She dislikes half-hearted commitment and mocks opponents whose resolve she considers inadequate. Her confidence is supported by genuine ability: she is willing to confront several capable fighters at once without immediately resorting to her Style.

Mogura also has an immature streak. Sui cites her habit of drawing on sleeping people as an example, while Mogura herself describes her personality in terms of taking things apart.

Mogura is an exceptional fighter even without Misconversion User. She can evade and counter extremely fast attacks, and four of the other suitors are required to defeat her during the Wedding Feast. She is also an expert mechanic who can dismantle complex machinery with flat-head screwdrivers and use the same tools as thrown weapons.

Misconversion User creates tangible effects from incorrect conversions of Japanese words. By exploiting homophones and altered written forms, Mogura can transform the meaning attached to an action into something radically different.

Among its applications, she can combine the physical properties of people in an area into a single attack, reduce an incoming attack to nothing through a linguistic misconversion, and change thick ice into "hot" ice. The Style is powerful but remains governed by language, leaving it vulnerable when an opponent understands the mistake on which a conversion depends.

Mogura appears during the second Jet Black Wedding Feast as the genuine Kugurugi representative. Her reputation precedes her: the other suitors identify her as exceptionally dangerous, and defeating her requires several of them acting together.

She later confronts the Student Council directly and demonstrates that her physical ability alone is enough to threaten fighters accustomed to superhuman opponents. Her screwdrivers also turn her habit of "disassembly" into a literal combat method.

Mogura gravely wounds Mukae Emukae with her screwdrivers, provoking Kumagawa into confronting her personally. She attempts to use Misconversion User against him, but Kumagawa recognizes the underlying linguistic mistake and refuses to let her rewrite what has happened.

Medaka Kurokami is the prospective bride for whom Mogura enters the Jet Black Wedding Feast, and Mogura proudly identifies herself as Medaka's first suitor.

Kairai Kugurugi is Mogura's relative and the Shiranui Household member assigned to serve as her double.

Sui Kanaino regards Mogura as the suitor whose ability comes closest to Medaka's and knows her well enough to comment on her immature habits.

Mukae Emukae fights Mogura during the Wedding Feast conflict. Mogura severely injures Mukae with thrown screwdrivers.

Misogi Kumagawa confronts Mogura after Mukae is injured. Kumagawa proves particularly troublesome for Misconversion User because he understands and rejects the linguistic premise Mogura attempts to impose on their confrontation.

Maguro Kurokami is related to Mogura through the Kugurugi branch of the Kurokami family.
