Minoru Mineta

峰田実

Story Role

Mineta first appears during Aizawa’s Quirk Apprehension Test, where he uses Pop Off to improve his side-to-side jumps. The result introduces the central mechanical distinction of his Quirk: the spheres adhere to the environment but repel his own body.

During the U.S.J. attack, Mineta is transported to the Shipwreck Zone with Izuku and Tsuyu. He initially panics, but Izuku builds a plan around Pop Off. Mineta covers the surrounding villains in sticky spheres, allowing Tsuyu and Izuku to escape while the attackers become bound together.

At the Sports Festival, Mineta completes the obstacle race partly by attaching himself to Momo. He joins the cavalry battle but does not advance to the tournament. The event shows his opportunism without yet demonstrating the more disciplined support tactics he later develops.

His first internship with Mt. Lady disappoints his fantasies of glamorous hero work. During the final exam, however, Mineta recognizes that he cannot rely on Sero or wait for rescue. He traps Midnight with Grape Rush, carries his partner to safety, and passes through his own decision-making.

Mineta later develops additional Quirk applications for the Provisional Hero License Exam and passes alongside most of Class 1-A. During joint training, Grape Buckler, Vineyard, and Mineta-Bounce demonstrate a more versatile approach combining defense, capture, and mobility.

In the Paranormal Liberation War, he contributes Pop Off spheres to the students’ attempt to restrain Gigantomachia and administer the sedative prepared by Momo. Following the losses of the war, he joins Class 1-A in locating Izuku and persuading him to return to U.A.

During the Final War, Mineta fights on the battlefield assigned to contain Gigantomachia and oppose All For One. Although heavily outmatched, he protects Tokoyami by offering Pop Off as an alternative Quirk for All For One to steal.
