Masumi Sera

Sera is cheerful, confident, inquisitive, and highly competitive when a mystery appears. She openly calls herself a detective and enjoys testing her deductions against other capable investigators.

She is also direct and physically fearless. Sera readily confronts dangerous suspects and rarely hesitates to use Jeet Kune Do when someone threatens her or her friends.

Her playful personality hides considerable caution about her private circumstances. She asks Conan probing questions while carefully controlling what she reveals about herself.

Sera is a talented detective with sharp observational skills, logical reasoning, and the ability to reconstruct crimes from limited evidence. Her deductions are strong enough to solve complicated murder cases, although Conan can identify details she occasionally misses.

She is an accomplished practitioner of Jeet Kune Do. Her speed, kicking ability, reflexes, and hand-to-hand technique make her one of the stronger teenage fighters in the series and allow her to contend with Ran.

Sera also has strong motorcycle skills and frequently uses a motorcycle for transportation.

Sera first encounters Conan, Ran, and Sonoko during a murder case and soon transfers into their class at Teitan High. Her immediate familiarity with Conan suggests that her arrival in Tokyo involves more than coincidence.

She becomes a recurring detective in cases involving the high-school cast, frequently cooperating or competing with Conan while investigating his unusual abilities.

Sera is eventually revealed to be the younger sister of Shuichi Akai and Shukichi Haneda and the daughter of Mary Sera. She had previously met Shinichi and Ran during a childhood encounter at a beach ten years earlier.

Her return to Japan is connected to Mary's condition and the search for information that could restore her mother, leading Sera to suspect that Conan possesses access to the drug responsible for Mary's transformation.

Mary Sera is Sera's mother. Sera secretly lives with Mary after her mother's body is transformed into that of a middle-school-aged girl.

Shuuichi Akai is Sera's eldest brother and the person who inspires her to learn Jeet Kune Do.

Shukichi Haneda is Sera's other older brother and remains in Japan while she lives abroad.

Conan Edogawa immediately attracts Sera's attention because of his intelligence. Sera suspects that Conan is Shinichi Kudo and repeatedly attempts to obtain information from him.

Ran Mouri and Sonoko Suzuki become Sera's classmates and friends at Teitan High.

Shinichi Kudo met Sera during their childhood beach encounter, although Shinichi initially does not remember her when she returns to Japan.
