Lucky Roux

Roux is jovial, relaxed and strongly associated with the Red Hair Pirates’ celebrations. Official material identifies him as a mood-maker within the crew, and he regularly joins its drinking, feasting and laughter.

He shares Shanks’s view that insults can be ignored but threats against friends demand a response. His sudden transition from eating to shooting an armed bandit demonstrates discipline beneath his easygoing manner.

Roux speaks informally with the other officers and is comfortable commenting on Shanks’s decisions. His continued place near the captain indicates longstanding trust rather than a ceremonial rank.

Roux carries a flintlock pistol and can draw and fire at close range before an opponent reacts. He is the first person shown killing another character in the manga, shooting one of Higuma’s bandits when the man threatens Shanks.

As a senior officer of an Emperor’s crew, Roux is recognized as a powerful combatant. Supplementary canon attributes exceptional speed and physical force to him, although the manga has not yet presented an extended individual battle or named technique.

No Devil Fruit has been confirmed for Roux. The nature and level of his Haki have likewise not been demonstrated in detail, so claims about specific advanced applications remain unverified.

His position as the crew’s cook establishes culinary skill in addition to combat ability, though the story has not shown him preparing a meal directly.

Roux first appears with the Red Hair Pirates in Foosha Village. He participates in their gatherings at Partys Bar and joins the crew when it confronts Higuma’s mountain bandits over their treatment of Luffy.

He later accompanies Shanks to Marineford. The Red Hair Pirates’ arrival brings the Summit War to a close, though Roux does not engage in a separate on-panel fight.

Subsequent appearances place him among the senior officers following world events around Luffy. He sails with the crew near Wano and Elbaf as Shanks turns his attention toward the One Piece and confronts rival pirate forces.

Shanks is Roux’s captain and longtime friend. Roux follows his judgment in both peaceful encounters and armed confrontations while remaining comfortable enough to speak candidly with him.

Ben Beckman and Yasopp are Roux’s fellow senior officers. The three regularly appear beside Shanks when the crew responds to major events.

Monkey D. Luffy knows Roux from the Red Hair Pirates’ stay in Foosha Village. Roux participates in the confrontation that saves him from Higuma.

Higuma’s armed subordinate becomes Roux’s first on-panel victim after threatening the crew at gunpoint. The killing illustrates the warning Shanks gives the bandits about staking their lives when drawing weapons.
