Locus

Locus is proud, disciplined and intensely devoted to the ideals he associates with knighthood. His reputation was built not only on supernatural strength but on martial prestige: before pledging himself to Griffith, he had never been defeated in a joust and had refused to serve a master he considered unworthy.

He is unusually articulate and controlled for an Apostle. Locus can converse courteously with humans, explain the structure of the reborn Hawks and command other Apostles as organized soldiers rather than as a rampaging horde. He nevertheless accepts the brutal realities of Griffith's supernatural army without hesitation.

His loyalty to Griffith is absolute. Locus views him as the long-awaited master worthy of his service and treats the Hawk of Light's ambitions with an almost religious certainty.

Locus is an elite mounted lancer. His enormous lance has a distinctive spiral construction and is wielded with enough speed and accuracy to pierce multiple enemies in a single charge. His horsemanship is similarly exceptional, allowing him to maneuver through massed formations while attacking with extraordinary precision.

As an Apostle, Locus possesses physical capabilities far beyond those of ordinary humans. His transformed body fuses rider and mount into a metallic centaur-like creature. His arms become elongated lances, while his horse-like lower body gives him tremendous charging speed and power.

The transformed Locus is especially effective against massed infantry. He can tear through formations that would halt conventional cavalry, making him the natural commander of Griffith's demon lancer division.

Locus appears after Griffith's return to the physical world, approaching him after receiving a revelation connected to the Hawk of Light. The previously independent knight willingly swears allegiance and becomes one of the most prominent Apostle commanders in the new Band of the Hawk.

He later introduces Mule Wolflame to the supernatural side of Griffith's army, showing him the War Demons and explaining that these monstrous soldiers nevertheless submit completely to Griffith. This establishes Locus as an intermediary between the human and Apostle portions of the army.

During the war against the Kushan Empire, Locus repeatedly leads the demon lancers into battle and participates in Griffith's campaign against Emperor Ganishka. After Falconia is established, he remains one of Griffith's principal military commanders.

Griffith is the first leader Locus considers worthy of his unconditional service. His loyalty to the Hawk of Light defines his place within the reborn Band of the Hawk.

Mule Wolflame is introduced by Locus to the War Demons. Locus helps the young knight understand that the frightening creatures serving the Hawks are disciplined soldiers under Griffith's command.

Grunbeld, Irvine and Rakshas are Locus's fellow Apostle commanders in the reborn Band of the Hawk, each leading or supporting a specialized element of Griffith's forces.
