Personality
Personality
Lapointe is authoritarian, cruel, arrogant, and intolerant of opposition. He considers his own authority nearly absolute and refuses to recognize meaningful interference even from the Magic Council.
When a priest refuses to reveal information about Will Neville's disciples, Lapointe imprisons and tortures him. He similarly manipulates the Legion Corps while presenting every increasingly destructive order as a religious necessity.
His contemptuous language and manner closely mirror Brain's, an unusual resemblance that becomes significant as the Infinity Clock conspiracy is uncovered.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Lapointe possesses several forms of magic. Nightmare Magic allows him to influence people through dreams and distorted perceptions, while Darkness Magic creates shadowy restraints and offensive constructs.
Telekinetic abilities allow him to manipulate surrounding objects, including prison structures.
He also claims knowledge of Personification Magic, a discipline that can grant forms and personalities to nonhuman constructs.
Lapointe's own body is ultimately revealed to be a product of such artificial magic rather than the body of an ordinary human Cardinal.
Story Role
Story Role
Lapointe blocks Lahar's attempts to investigate Zentopia's connection to the escaped Oración Seis and keeps ordinary priests away from the Archbishop.
He takes increasingly direct command of the Legion Corps, orders Guttman Kubrick's release, and directs operations against the descendants carrying the Organic Links associated with the Infinity Clock.
Lapointe also manipulates the Archbishop and works to keep the truth of the Church's situation hidden from Byro Cracy and the other Legionnaires.
Lapointe is ultimately revealed to be a personified doll created by Macbeth using a lock of Zero's hair. He infiltrated Zentopia as part of the Reborn Oración Seis plan, manipulated the Archbishop, and helped release the imprisoned members of the guild.
Byro turns against him after learning the truth and nullifies his magic during Lapointe's fight with Gildarts, allowing the false Cardinal to be defeated.
