Dan Straight

Dan is cheerful, energetic, confident, and relentlessly flirtatious. He can become infatuated with someone almost immediately and expresses attraction with exaggerated declarations of love. Lucy Heartfilia becomes his most persistent obsession during the Legion Corps' confrontation with Fairy Tail.

His romantic distractions can be tactically disastrous, but Dan is not cowardly. He takes pride in being a knight and will risk himself for someone he genuinely wants to protect.

He is also less ideologically rigid than several other Zentopia soldiers, which makes it easier for him to cooperate with former enemies once the wider conspiracy becomes clear.

Dan is an accomplished lancer with high strength, reflexes, and durability. He can intercept attacks from several experienced Fairy Tail mages in succession and withstand direct blows from Natsu.

Ricochet is a defensive Magic Shield capable of reflecting incoming physical and magical attacks. Rather than merely blocking them, the weapon redirects the force outward and can turn an opponent's own spell against them.

Habaraki is a lance whose strikes alter an object's size. Dan can shrink people to miniature proportions or enlarge objects dramatically, turning ordinary battlefield elements into obstacles and weapons.

Dan enters the story alongside Samuel at the Heartfilia estate while Fairy Tail investigates Key of the Starry Heavens.

He fights Erza Scarlet, Gray Fullbuster, and Natsu Dragneel, reflecting their attacks with Ricochet and shrinking Natsu with Habaraki while Samuel concentrates on obtaining information from the book.

Dan is later paired with Coco at the Cryptic Ruins, where his obsession with Lucy repeatedly diverts his attention from the actual mission. Natsu and Romeo Conbolt eventually defeat him together.

After the Legion Corps realizes it has been manipulated, Dan joins Fairy Tail's wider effort to stop the Infinity Clock rather than continuing to treat the guild as an enemy.

Samuel is Dan's regular partner and provides the careful analysis that Dan often lacks.

Lucy Heartfilia becomes the object of Dan's immediate romantic obsession.

Coco works alongside Dan during the Cryptic Ruins mission and repeatedly tries to keep him focused.

Natsu Dragneel is one of Dan's recurring opponents and eventually defeats him with Romeo's help.

Romeo Conbolt joins Natsu against Dan.

Erza Scarlet fights Dan during his first mission against Team Natsu.

Byro Cracy commands Dan as leader of the Legion Corps.

Samuel and Dan complement one another particularly well: Samuel supplies prediction and strategy while Dan handles direct combat.
