Samuel

Samuel is intelligent, formal, analytical, and extremely proud of his ability to calculate cause and effect. He studies speech patterns and behavior carefully, then predicts what an opponent is most likely to do.

His intelligence also makes him arrogant. Samuel dismisses Fairy Tail as careless and irrational because its members frequently act through instinct rather than planning.

When events fall outside his predictions, however, Samuel can become flustered and far less composed. His confidence depends heavily on the assumption that everything meaningful can be calculated.

Like other Exceeds, Samuel uses Aera to create wings for flight. His control allows him to maneuver quickly and transport himself between distant locations during Legion Corps missions.

Battle Mode Shift enlarges his body into a more muscular combat form resembling the transformation used by Panther Lily. His claws become more dangerous, and he can project magical energy from them.

Samuel also wears Gale-Force Reading Glasses. These let him read at extraordinary speed; he uses them to consume and memorize the entire contents of Key of the Starry Heavens without needing to steal the book itself.

Samuel first appears properly at the Heartfilia estate with Dan Straight.

While Dan handles Fairy Tail's fighters, Samuel concentrates on the book connected to the Infinity Clock. He anticipates Lucy Heartfilia's attempts to hide it and memorizes its contents with his reading glasses.

He later encounters Gajeel Redfox, Panther Lily, and Team Shadow Gear while searching for another clock component. Samuel challenges Lily after insisting that his calculations and rational approach are superior.

Samuel eventually abandons his hostility after recognizing the Legion Corps' role in the unfolding catastrophe. He works alongside Panther Lily to break the chains anchoring the Infinity Clock and later returns to Fairy Tail with the Legion Corps to apologize.

Dan Straight is Samuel's regular partner, with Samuel supplying analysis while Dan handles much of the direct fighting.

Byro Cracy commands Samuel and relies on his intelligence during Legion Corps operations.

Panther Lily is an older Exceed whom Samuel addresses as a senior but also challenges competitively.

Gajeel Redfox mockingly calls Samuel "Sammy," a nickname Samuel strongly dislikes.

Lucy Heartfilia becomes an important target because of her connection to the clock and Key of the Starry Heavens.

Happy and Carla are fellow Exceeds encountered during the same conflict.
