Koishi is experienced enough with manga to participate in a professional discussion about Gintaman, although the meeting itself rapidly becomes less constructive than its participants intend.
His unusual appearance reflects the exaggerated atmosphere surrounding the editorial gathering: he wears sunglasses and little more than a robe, with a tengu mask used for modesty.
His decision to leave manga and work as a cashier also distinguishes him from the increasingly desperate professionals still trying to keep Gintaman commercially viable.

The discussion begins with attempts to identify what the manga lacks. Suggestions about romance, sexuality and other commercially appealing elements accumulate as the participants try to manufacture a more popular series.
The resulting ideas become increasingly contradictory. Amachi ultimately has to combine the group's advice into a story, producing the convoluted version of Gintaman that Gintoki later reads.
