Breeza

Breeza is domineering, destructive and supremely confident in his own power. He treats Planet Hamek and its inhabitants as obstacles to his search rather than as lives worth preserving, leaving devastation behind him as he hunts for the Slippery Balls.

His characterization deliberately follows the broad mannerisms of the villain he parodies. The elaborate setup surrounding his tyranny suggests a climactic struggle, only for Gintama to undercut those expectations once Toushirou Hijikata actually reaches him.

Breeza is capable of powering up and possesses enough apparent combat ability to have terrorized Planet Hamek. His physical appearance changes as he increases his power, echoing the transformations associated with Frieza.

The series intentionally provides little detailed technical information about his abilities because the anticipated battle is itself part of the joke. Breeza's supposed status as an overwhelming cosmic enemy is contrasted with how abruptly his encounter with Hijikata develops.

Breeza attacks Planet Hamek while searching for Slippery Balls and devastates much of its population. His actions also destroy the planet's tobacco fields, transforming what had once been a smoker's paradise into a barren wasteland.

Hijikata reaches Hamek while attempting to find cigarettes after Edo's anti-smoking measures leave him increasingly desperate for tobacco. Derude explains what Breeza has done, setting up Hijikata as the warrior who might avenge the planet.

Despite the elaborate Dragon Ball-style buildup, Hijikata cuts Breeza down almost immediately when they finally fight. His hoped-for reward proves equally useless to his original mission: Breeza leaves him a Slippery Ball rather than the cigarettes he has crossed space to find.

Toushirou Hijikata becomes Breeza's opponent after arriving on Hamek in search of tobacco. Breeza powers up to confront him, only for Hijikata to defeat him with striking speed.

Derude is one of the Hamekians whose life is devastated by Breeza's attack. Breeza is responsible for killing Derude's parents and destroying the tobacco fields on which the planet depended.
