Ichi

Ichi is energetic, straightforward and intensely driven by the idea of hunting. Years spent surviving largely by himself have given him an unusual worldview: dangerous Majiks are often understood first as prey, trials as hunts and hostile intent as something he can read almost instinctively. Formal etiquette and social expectations are far less intuitive to him.

Despite his enthusiasm for dangerous confrontations, Ichi follows a strict personal rule concerning life and death. He kills animals for food and will kill something that genuinely threatens his life, but he rejects needless killing. This distinction separates his love of hunting from indiscriminate violence.

Ichi also forms attachments with surprising intensity. He respects people who earn his trust through their actions and responds strongly to threats against those he considers companions. His bluntness can make his affection appear unusual, but his loyalty to Team Desscaras becomes increasingly important as he adjusts to life among other people.

Ichi was already an exceptional hunter before acquiring magic. He can track prey, construct traps, move through wilderness terrain and detect killing intent with extraordinary sensitivity. His physical conditioning comes from years of surviving on Druid Mountain, while Minakata supplemented his self-taught skills with lessons in survival, cooking and fishing.

His acquisition of Uroro fundamentally changes his capabilities. Uroro is scientifically classified as the Ultra-Amplification Majik, allowing Ichi to dramatically increase the power of magic he uses. The amplification is enormous, but using Uroro's power carries the drawback of leaving Ichi unconscious for approximately three days afterward.

As a witch, Ichi acquires additional Majiks by completing their individual trials. Among his early acquisitions are Inazuri, the Raiko Majik, and Uruwashi, the Hisame Majik. His greatest advantage in trials is often not conventional magical knowledge but his ability to analyze a target as a hunter would analyze prey.

Ichi later acquires further Majiks including Ariadne and Bakugami, expanding the range of magic available to him. His relationship with Uroro also develops to the point that the King Majik can temporarily take control of Ichi's body under agreed conditions.

Ichi's life changes when Desscaras battles Uroro on Druid Mountain. Uroro has constructed a trial around stopping his heart while imposing a condition that prevents women from doing so, effectively making the trial impossible for the witches attempting to acquire him. Ichi, unaware of the wider significance of the confrontation, approaches Uroro as dangerous prey and pierces his heart, clearing the trial.

The result overturns one of the basic assumptions of the magical world. Ichi possesses magical power and is consequently recognized as the first known male witch. Desscaras takes responsibility for him, and the Mantinel Witches Association establishes Team Desscaras with Ichi and Kumugi Harvest as its initial members.

His existence becomes increasingly important as Team Desscaras encounters Majiks actively hostile toward humanity. Jikishirone's prophecy identifies Ichi as the person capable of defeating the World-Hater Majik, while also predicting that doing so will cost him his life. Desscaras responds by binding herself and Ichi through a mentor-pupil blood contract intended to prevent him from accepting that fate alone.

Desscaras is Ichi's mentor, team leader and one of the first people to bring him into ordinary human society after his isolated childhood. Their relationship begins chaotically but develops into a powerful bond. Desscaras later establishes a mentor-pupil blood contract linking their lives after learning of the prophecy surrounding Ichi.

Uroro is the King Majik acquired by Ichi in his first encounter with the magical world. Uroro resents his acquisition and repeatedly attempts to manipulate Ichi, while Ichi treats the legendary Majik with remarkably little reverence.

Kumugi Harvest is Ichi's teammate and initially serves as the observer assigned to document his behavior. Ichi respects her research magic and repeatedly encourages her despite her low confidence.

Gokuraku Kagami becomes one of Ichi's closest male companions. Their shared enthusiasm for confronting Majiks creates an immediate rapport, even though their attitudes toward violence differ considerably.

Minakata taught Ichi survival skills during his childhood on Druid Mountain and occupies a mentor-like place in his memories.
