Kumugi Harvest

Kumugi is shy, awkward and lacking in confidence. Being placed between the famous Abyssal Witch and the unprecedented first male witch makes her acutely aware of how ordinary she believes herself to be. Compliments can embarrass her, and forceful personalities easily overwhelm her.

Her timidity does not prevent her from taking her responsibilities seriously. Kumugi is meticulous when observing Majiks and recording information, and her detailed reports prove that her contribution to the team is more substantial than she initially believes.

She is also compassionate and cautious. Where Ichi may charge toward something he considers prey and Desscaras may trust her overwhelming strength, Kumugi is often more aware of the risks surrounding their missions.

Kumugi's specialty is research and documentation. Her spell Endless Ink — Kanpeli creates and controls floating pens and sheets of paper capable of rapidly recording information. The ability allows her to document fast-moving battles and complicated magical phenomena without relying solely on ordinary handwriting.

Her observational skill is the reason Shirabedonna selects her to accompany Ichi. Kumugi's report concerning Ichi's trial against Uruwashi becomes important evidence when the Witches' Conference evaluates the unprecedented male witch.

She can also use Water, Spring Forth — Poltata, a basic spell that produces drinkable water. Her equipment includes a pen-shaped wand and a magic pouch whose interior storage capacity exceeds its external dimensions. Kumugi is additionally capable of piloting the Association's floating vehicles.

Kumugi is introduced in Natali as a witch cadet associated with the Witches' Research Club. After Ichi arrives at the Mantinel Witches Association, she is assigned to observe him and document how his unprecedented status affects the established understanding of witches and Majik acquisition.

She becomes a founding member of Team Desscaras and accompanies Ichi through his early hunts. During the Hisame Majik mission, her position as an observer quickly develops into genuine membership in the group, with her research abilities complementing the much more combat-oriented skills of her teammates.

Kumugi's personal history later comes to the foreground when her older sister Spica attempts to replace her on Team Desscaras. The confrontation reveals that Kumugi's low confidence is tied to childhood guilt over a magical accident that injured Spica's right eye. Ichi rejects the idea that Kumugi is replaceable, helping her begin confronting the unhealthy dynamic that has controlled her relationship with her sister.

Ichi is Kumugi's teammate and originally the subject she is assigned to observe. His direct appreciation of her abilities helps counter her tendency to consider herself insignificant.

Desscaras leads Kumugi's team and is one of the powerful witches beside whom Kumugi initially feels inadequate.

Shirabedonna is Kumugi's superior and the person who recognizes that her research magic makes her particularly suited to documenting Ichi.
