Hosui Kisaragi

Kisaragi is reserved, irritable, traditional, and intensely devoted to his art. Mount Fuji is not merely a recurring subject for him; his ability to observe and paint it from his home has become central to his artistic life.

He shows little enthusiasm for the Twin Towers despite his connection to Mio and his participation in the opening exhibition. His dissatisfaction becomes increasingly noticeable as the investigation progresses.

Kisaragi is also meticulous. His understanding of presentation, visual alignment, and physical objects allows him to construct situations in which apparently decorative details carry hidden significance.

Kisaragi is an accomplished professional painter whose reputation rests particularly on depictions of Mount Fuji. He has spent years studying and reproducing the mountain from his home.

He has no supernatural abilities or formal combat training. His practical abilities include careful planning, artistic precision, and an understanding of the spaces in which his paintings are displayed.

He proves capable of constructing elaborate murder mechanisms and deliberately leaves broken sake cups as symbolic clues connected to Mount Fuji.

Kisaragi is introduced among the prominent people connected to the Nishitama Twin Towers. His latest Mount Fuji painting is intended to be one of the centerpiece works presented during the building's opening party.

When Oki is murdered, Kisaragi becomes one of the people with access to the unopened building and therefore one of the suspects. Further deaths keep him within the investigation as Conan studies the significance of broken sake cups left at the scenes.

Kisaragi is exposed as the murderer of Iwamatsu Oki and Mio Tokiwa. His motive is the construction of the Twin Towers, which split and obstruct the view of Mount Fuji from his home. He uses the murders as revenge against people responsible for the project and incorporates the divided image of Fuji into his clues.

Yoshiaki Hara's murder, however, is separate from Kisaragi's killings and is committed by Gin because of Hara's involvement with the Black Organization's data.

Mio Tokiwa is Kisaragi's student in painting and the president of the Tokiwa Group. [Hosui Kisaragi ultimately murders Mio Tokiwa during the opening ceremony using a mechanism concealed around the presentation of his Mount Fuji painting.](#spoiler)

Iwamatsu Oki is another of Kisaragi's victims because of Oki's involvement in allowing the Twin Towers project to proceed.
