Hiroshi Agasa

Agasa is cheerful, generous, intelligent, and paternal. He enjoys spending time with children and readily turns his home into a gathering place for Conan, Haibara, and the Detective Boys.

He is extremely proud of his inventions, even though their usefulness varies considerably. Some are commercially successful or genuinely ingenious, while others malfunction or solve problems nobody particularly needed solved.

Agasa can also be cautious when circumstances demand it. Once he learns about the Black Organization, he understands the danger of exposing Conan's identity and repeatedly helps maintain the deception despite his naturally open personality.

Agasa is a talented inventor and engineer responsible for most of Conan's specialized equipment. His creations include the Voice-Changing Bowtie, Stun-Gun Wristwatch, Power-Enhancing Kick Shoes, Criminal Tracking Glasses, Anywhere Ball Dispensing Belt, Turbo Engine Skateboard, and other devices designed around Conan's unusual needs.

He also creates equipment for the Detective Boys, including their communication badges and flashlight wristwatches. His inventions combine electronics, communications technology, mechanics, and miniaturized devices.

Agasa is intellectually capable outside engineering as well, although he is not a detective on Conan's level. His technical expertise frequently helps analyze equipment, construct solutions, or support plans against dangerous opponents.

Agasa enters the story immediately after Shinichi is transformed. Once Shinichi proves his identity, Agasa warns him that openly revealing what happened could cause the criminals responsible to target everyone around him.

He helps construct the Conan Edogawa identity and recommends that Shinichi live with Kogoro Mouri, reasoning that a private detective may encounter information about the organization responsible for the drug. Agasa then develops gadgets that allow Conan to continue investigating despite his smaller body.

Agasa later finds the physically regressed Shiho Miyano after she escapes from the Black Organization. He takes her into his home, helps create the Ai Haibara identity, and becomes her guardian. His house consequently becomes one of the few places where both victims of APTX 4869 can speak openly about their circumstances.

Shinichi Kudo has known Agasa since childhood and trusts him immediately after his transformation. Agasa becomes one of the small number of people fully aware of Shinichi's situation.

Conan Edogawa is the identity Agasa helps Shinichi maintain. Agasa supplies Conan Edogawa with inventions that allow him to continue functioning as a detective.

Ai Haibara lives with Agasa and gradually develops a parent-child-like relationship with him. Agasa knows that she is actually Shiho Miyano and protects her from discovery by the Black Organization.

Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, and Genta Kojima regularly accompany Agasa on camping trips, vacations, and other outings as members of the Detective Boys.

Fusae Campbell is Agasa's childhood love. The two retain feelings for one another decades after being separated as children, although circumstances prevent their reunion from immediately developing further.

Yusaku Kudo and Yukiko Kudo have known Agasa for years and trust him with their son's secret.
