Yukiko Kudo

Yukiko is energetic, mischievous, glamorous, and highly theatrical. She enjoys dramatic entrances, disguises, and teasing Shinichi, particularly when he fails to react with the enthusiasm she expects from her only son.

Her playful behavior conceals considerable intelligence and courage. Yukiko can remain convincing while impersonating another person in genuinely dangerous circumstances and willingly assists Shinichi against opponents far more dangerous than ordinary criminals.

She is sensitive about her age and particularly dislikes being treated as an older woman. At the same time, she takes obvious pride in both her acting career and her youthful appearance.

Yukiko is an accomplished actress capable of altering her voice, mannerisms, posture, and behavior to inhabit a role convincingly. She is also a highly skilled disguise artist.

She learned advanced disguise techniques from Toichi Kuroba, training alongside Vermouth. Her skill allows her to create convincing identities for herself and assist other characters in assuming elaborate disguises.

Yukiko is also an excellent driver and has considerable composure under pressure. Although not a professional detective, years around Yusaku and Shinichi have made her comfortable participating in complicated investigative plans.

Yukiko first appears under a disguise while Conan is living as an elementary-school child. She participates with Yusaku in a deliberately frightening scenario intended to test their son's situation.

The apparent stranger is revealed to be Conan's mother, and both Yukiko and Yusaku already know that Conan is actually Shinichi. They offer to remove him from Japan for his safety, but he chooses to continue pursuing the Black Organization.

Yukiko later assists repeatedly through disguises and acting. Her old friendship with Vermouth also connects her directly to the wider Black Organization storyline.

Shinichi Kudo is Yukiko's son. She loves Shinichi Kudo deeply but takes enormous pleasure in teasing him and involving him in elaborate performances.

Yusaku Kudo is Yukiko's husband. Their marriage remains affectionate despite their contrasting personalities.

Vermouth is Yukiko's old friend from the acting world. Both women studied disguise under Toichi, although [Vermouth's involvement with the Black Organization eventually places them on opposing sides of a dangerous conflict.](#spoiler)

Eri Kisaki is Yukiko's longtime friend and former school rival; the two famously competed for attention during their years at Teitan High School.
