Ayumi Yoshida

Ayumi is cheerful, compassionate, curious, and trusting. She readily makes friends and often shows sympathy even toward people the other children initially find suspicious.

Her adventurousness can lead her into danger. Ayumi is fascinated by mysteries and hidden places, and she enthusiastically supports the Detective Boys even after learning firsthand that their investigations can involve genuine criminals.

She develops a childhood crush on Conan and is unusually open about liking him. Her affection never prevents her from forming a close friendship with Ai Haibara, whom she welcomes into the group despite Haibara's initially distant behavior.

Ayumi has no supernatural abilities or specialized investigative training. Her strengths lie in observation, memory, and empathy.

She sometimes notices emotional or behavioral details overlooked by the more analytically minded members of the group. Because adults often speak more freely around children, Ayumi and her friends can also obtain information that formal investigators might not receive.

Like the other Detective Boys, she uses gadgets supplied by Hiroshi Agasa, particularly the Detective Boys Badge and Wristwatch Flashlight.

Ayumi befriends Conan shortly after he begins attending Teitan Elementary School. Together with Genta Kojima, she decides to investigate an allegedly haunted mansion and persuades Conan and Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya to accompany them.

A later hunt for stolen Italian gold places the children against genuine criminals and reinforces their enthusiasm for solving mysteries. Ayumi, Genta, and Mitsuhiko subsequently form the Detective Boys.

Haibara's arrival changes the group's dynamic by giving Ayumi another girl her apparent age to confide in. Their friendship becomes one of the warmest relationships in Haibara's new life.

Conan Edogawa is Ayumi's friend and childhood crush. She openly admires Conan Edogawa and frequently wants to spend time with him.

Ai Haibara becomes Ayumi's closest female friend. Ayumi's unconditional acceptance helps Ai Haibara become more comfortable with ordinary childhood friendships.

Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya is Ayumi's classmate and fellow Detective Boys member.

Genta Kojima is Ayumi's classmate and one of her original partners in investigating mysteries.

Hiroshi Agasa regularly supervises Ayumi and the Detective Boys on camping trips and other excursions.

Sumiko Kobayashi is Ayumi's teacher at Teitan Elementary School and one of the adults associated with the Detective Boys.
