Hanza Nukui

Hanza is calculating, tenacious and willing to sacrifice subordinates to complete his assignment. Repeated defeat increases his fixation on proving himself against Ichigo.

He respects strength but interprets it chiefly as something to overcome or exploit. His ambition drives him to feed Saiga more spiritual power even after the weapon begins endangering him.

Saiga contains a mirror in its hilt and manipulates reflected moonlight. It produces cutting beams and mirrored barriers, while its fragments can draw a target into an illusory space constructed from painful memories.

Inside that nightmare, Hanza turns a victim’s own history against them. The Bakkōtō grows stronger by consuming his reiatsu, but excessive feeding allows it to overwhelm its wielder.

Hanza repeatedly attacks Ichigo’s group while attempting to reach Rurichiyo. His first direct confrontation ends when Yoruichi Shihouin intervenes.

Hanza later traps Ichigo in a nightmare recreating his memories of his mother’s death. Ichigo breaks free, after which the overfed Saiga consumes Hanza and explodes. Hanza is therefore destroyed by his own Bakkōtō rather than simply killed by Ichigo.

Gyokaku Kumoi commands Hanza and supplies his assassination team with Bakkōtō. Rurichiyo Kasumiouji is their intended victim.

Ichigo Kurosaki becomes Hanza’s principal opponent. Jinnai Douko, Kuzuryuu and Genga serve beneath Hanza during the Human World assault.
