Genga

Genga is confident, stubborn and dismissive of warnings. He assumes his weapon’s unusual defenses will neutralize Chad’s strength and continues escalating the battle after it becomes apparent that Kakuyoku is endangering him.

He values power over self-preservation. Even when Chad offers him an opportunity to withdraw, Genga refuses and relies more heavily on the Bakkōtō.

Kakuyoku is an oversized guandao-like Bakkōtō. Its swings generate green, pressurized spiritual masses that can rise as walls, obstruct attacks and divide the battlefield.

Genga can enter or blend into these formations, concealing his position before striking from another section. Kakuyoku’s power comes with the usual Bakkōtō danger: prolonged use allows the weapon to consume its wielder’s spiritual energy and body.

Genga helps prevent Ichigo Kurosaki and his allies from reaching the Kasumiōji estate. He isolates Chad inside a shifting field of walls and repeatedly ambushes him from concealment.

Chad learns to locate Genga rather than attacking the surrounding structures. He breaks through Kakuyoku’s defenses and defeats the assassin with La Muerte. Genga is left incapacitated and does not reappear, but the episode does not explicitly confirm his death.

Gyōkaku Kumoi employs Genga as an assassin, while Hanza Nukui leads the operational group to which he belongs. Jinnai Dōko and Kuzuryū are his fellow assassins.

Yasutora Sado is Genga’s principal opponent and the fighter who defeats him.
