Jinnai Douko

Jinnai is manic, violent and exhilarated by resistance. He repeatedly increases Retsurai’s power because a more dangerous battle interests him more than completing the assassination efficiently.

His appetite for combat overwhelms any caution about the Bakkōtō’s cost. Warnings and injuries only encourage him to surrender more of his body to the weapon.

Retsurai initially resembles a jagged, chain-linked scythe. By consuming parts of it, Jinnai incorporates the weapon into his flesh, producing blades across his skin and launching additional blades from his back.

Each further consumption increases his power and number of blades. The exchange is not sustainable: Retsurai progressively devours its wielder’s body and spiritual energy.

Jinnai confronts Rukia when she refuses to surrender Rurichiyo. He breaks through ice, overwhelms Kenryuu’s flowers and forces Rukia to use Kidō to restrict his supply of weapon fragments.

Jinnai consumes more of Retsurai to escape and increase his power, but loses control. The Bakkōtō engulfs and kills him, after which other assassins retrieve the weapon.

Hanza Nukui is Jinnai’s commander. Gyokaku Kumoi is the official behind their mission.

Rukia Kuchiki is Jinnai’s principal opponent. Ryuusei Kenzaki, Enryuu and Rurichiyo Kasumiouji are the bodyguards and target he tries to overpower.
