Gyoukaku Kumoi

Kumoi maintains a benevolent public expression, but privately he is calculating, cruel and willing to use assassination to retain control. He treats the clan’s traditions and political connections as tools rather than obligations.

Although initially presented as the conspiracy’s leader, he is also cautious and dependent on stronger agents. His composure deteriorates when his assassins fail and his position becomes indefensible.

Kumoi is a political operator rather than a demonstrated fighter. He commands assassins and provides them with Bakkōtō manufactured by the Kasumiōji clan, including simplified weapons issued when his forces begin to collapse.

No personal Zanpakutō, Bakkōtō or combat technique is established for him.

Kumoi attempts to control Rurichiyo Kasumiōji, using assassins and an arranged marriage to remove her authority. His operatives repeatedly pursue her in the Human World while he manipulates affairs within Soul Society.

Kumoi is eventually exposed as a participant in a larger plan orchestrated by Shūsuke Amagai. Once cornered, he attempts to seize Rurichiyo directly, but Amagai kills him and reveals that Kumoi was ultimately another disposable part of his revenge scheme.

Rurichiyo Kasumiōji is the clan head whose authority Kumoi seeks to appropriate. Shūsuke Amagai is his secret collaborator and the true architect behind the conspiracy.

Hanza Nukui commands the assassins working for Kumoi. Makoto Kibune supports the same conspiracy from within the Gotei 13, while Shū Kannogi is used in the attempted political marriage.
