Personality
Personality
Gorilla's appearance and manner of speaking initially suggest the stereotypical school bully, but his actions repeatedly overturn that assumption. He is compassionate, self-sacrificing and unusually sensitive to the feelings of other people. Even when he teases Bondo, his words often conceal an attempt to encourage or help his friend rather than genuinely humiliate him.
Friendship is extremely important to Gorilla. He dislikes malicious gossip and violence, and when circumstances force him to use his extraordinary strength against someone, he can feel guilty afterward rather than taking pride in overpowering them. He is equally serious about sharing both happiness and hardship with his friends.
His behavior at home follows the same pattern. As the oldest child of Ruko Gachi, he helps with his four younger siblings and the family's animal hospital. He will give up plans with friends when his family needs him, but rarely advertises these sacrifices or expects praise for them.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Gorilla possesses physical strength and durability far beyond what would normally be possible for an elementary school student. He survives being thrown great distances or driven into the ground and can overpower formidable opponents through raw strength. When Kanio attacks a weakened Roboco, Gorilla is powerful enough to send the combat robot flying with a slap.
He is also an outstanding athlete. Gorilla serves as the ace and cleanup hitter for the Bermuda Gorillas baseball team and is exceptionally capable in physical competitions. His sporting ability eventually extends to representing Japan at the U-12 level.
The manga increasingly exaggerates his abilities according to the conventions of whatever series it is parodying. Techniques and visual effects associated with battle manga can manifest around him for comedic effect, blurring the boundary between Gorilla being an exceptionally strong child and the story simply allowing him to operate according to shōnen-manga logic.
Story Role
Story Role
Gorilla appears from the beginning as one of Bondo's two closest classmates alongside Motsuo Kaneo. Their early behavior resembles the familiar bully-and-rich-kid pairing of children's comedy manga, but the series quickly reveals that both boys sincerely care about Bondo.
His family receives substantial attention beginning with the story in which the Gachi household's OrderMaid, Nasu-san, cannot perform her usual reception duties at the family animal hospital. Gorilla gives up a planned outing to cover the work rather than force his younger siblings to do it, revealing the responsibilities he handles outside school.
Later chapters repeatedly place Gorilla at the center of sports, friendship and romance stories. After an accident while protecting a child apparently costs him his life, the series ultimately reverses the outcome through supernatural intervention, returning him to his friends. His continuing prominence makes him one of the central members of Bondo's everyday group.

Bondo Taira is Gorilla's best friend and one of the people he values most. Although Gorilla frequently teases him, he consistently protects and supports Bondo when it matters.
Motsuo Kaneo is Gorilla's other closest friend. The two share an unusually sincere bond beneath their habit of joking with Bondo, and each holds the other in extremely high regard.

Ruri Gachi is Gorilla's younger sister. He supports her manga ambitions and takes his responsibility as her older brother seriously.
Goriji, Rumi and Gorisuke are Gorilla's younger siblings, whom he also helps look after.
