Najimi Ajimu

Ajimu is relaxed, calculating and almost impossible to intimidate. She often behaves casually even when discussing lethal situations, treating extraordinary events as routine after an existence spanning trillions of years. Her confidence comes from experience as much as power.

She identifies herself and Hanten Shiranui as Not Equals. Rather than placing themselves above humanity like an Abnormal or below it like a Minus, they regard themselves as fundamentally incomparable to ordinary people.

Ajimu also displays pronounced metafictional awareness. She comes to believe that her world is a manga and treats defeating Medaka as a way of testing whether that assumption can be disproved, regarding Medaka's protagonist-like success as evidence for her theory.

Ajimu is a Multiple Skill User with 7,932,135,441,523,222 Abnormalities and 4,925,916,526,110,643 Minuses when her full arsenal is introduced, totaling 12,858,051,967,633,865 skills. Only a fraction are individually demonstrated.

Her abilities cover almost every conceivable category. Alibi Block allows her to appear in places regardless of conventional distance or barriers, including dreams, while other skills manipulate biology, weapons, martial arts, perception, magic and numerous abstract properties. She can also transfer individual skills to other people.

Her physical capabilities are similarly extreme. She displays enormous strength and speed even without relying visibly on her more elaborate abilities. The sheer number of skills nevertheless does not make her invincible: Iihiko Shishime possesses an abnormal form of strength that her enormous arsenal cannot simply overcome.

Ajimu initially influences events indirectly through Misogi Kumagawa. Years before the main story, Kumagawa uses Book Maker against Ajimu and Hanten, restricting Ajimu's abilities. Even while sealed, she continues communicating with him through his dreams.

As the seal weakens, Ajimu takes a more active interest in Hakoniwa Academy and in finding a successor capable of completing the Flask Plan. Her enormous power makes the resulting trials less about whether she can personally defeat the candidates and more about what she wants them to prove.

Ajimu eventually reveals that she considers the world fictional and wants Medaka defeated partly because the result might disprove that belief. After Medaka's victory over the successor trials, Ajimu abandons the attempt and becomes considerably more cooperative with her.

During the Unknown Shiranui arc, Iihiko defeats Ajimu despite the thousands of abilities she deploys against him, demonstrating why the Shiranui family's ancient enemy terrifies even a being of her scale.

Misogi Kumagawa has a long and antagonistic history with Ajimu. Misogi Kumagawa seals her with Book Maker, while Ajimu subsequently communicates with him through dreams and manipulates his available skills.

Medaka Kurokami becomes Ajimu's principal test of whether an apparently impossible protagonist can actually be defeated. After Medaka overcomes the successor trials, Ajimu accepts the result and increasingly acts as an ally rather than an enemy.

Hanten Shiranui is Ajimu's fellow Not Equal and extraordinarily long-lived companion.

Iihiko Shishime is an opponent whose nature places him outside the easy solutions offered by Ajimu's countless skills. He ultimately overwhelms her despite the enormous number of abilities she uses against him.

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi becomes one of the people Ajimu equips with a new ability when she gives him Parasite Seeing.
