Byakko

Byakko is aggressive, hot-blooded and intensely proud of his offensive power. Unlike other members of the Sū-shin who emphasize analysis, imitation or strategy, he prefers to overwhelm opponents through continuous direct attacks.

His confidence becomes arrogance when he believes his barrage has deprived an opponent of any chance to retaliate. He talks openly about his method during battle and expects repeated strikes to settle a contest through sheer pressure.

Despite presenting himself as a straightforward attacker, he is willing to fight dishonestly when threatened. His pride in direct offense does not prevent him from using tricks if his opponent proves harder to defeat than expected.

Byakko practices Pai Hu Chan Kung, a close-range martial art built around selecting hand forms suited to striking particular points on an opponent's body. His attacks include specialized finger, fist and hand strikes aimed at areas such as the neck, shoulder, chin and abdomen.

His physical size does not prevent considerable agility. He can leap substantial distances and unleash rapid combinations while maintaining pressure at close range.

Byakko also wears White Tiger Iron Fists, bracelets that can fold over his hands to function as spiked knuckle weapons. When direct attacks fail against Sanosuke, he throws sand into Sanosuke's eyes and uses the transformed weapons to strike him while blinded.

Byakko arrives with Heishin and the other Sū-shin during the final stage of the Jinchū Arc. The four serve as Heishin's personal guards while his relationship with Enishi deteriorates.

When Kenshin's rescue party reaches the island, Heishin orders the Sū-shin into battle. Each member faces one of Kenshin's allies, with Byakko matched against Sanosuke Sagara.

Byakko initially maintains a barrage of attacks but discovers that Sanosuke can repeatedly break through them. After resorting to sand and his iron fists, he is still unable to put Sanosuke down. Sanosuke uses the Futae no Kiwami through the ground to knock him off balance and decisively defeats him.

Woo Heishin is Byakko's employer and the man whom the Sū-shin are charged with protecting.

Seiryuu, Suzaku and Genbu are Byakko's fellow Sū-shin and serve alongside him as Heishin's four elite bodyguards.

Sanosuke Sagara becomes Byakko's opponent during the island battle. Their approaches contrast sharply: Byakko depends on numerous precise strikes, while Sanosuke favors fewer attacks backed by exceptional destructive power.

Enishi Yukishiro is the leader of the criminal organization in which Heishin operates, though Byakko's direct loyalty is to Heishin rather than Enishi.
