Aria

Aria is theatrical, emotional, and unusually melancholic in speech. He constantly talks about sorrow and cries even in circumstances where the people around him show little comparable emotion.

That behavior does not make him harmless. Aria is confident in his strength and willing to seriously injure opponents in service of Phantom Lord. He knows that his magical ability places him above most ordinary mages and reserves his unrestrained power for enemies he considers worthy of it.

He is loyal to Phantom Lord's cause during the guild war and accepts his role as one of the key fighters responsible for neutralizing Fairy Tail's strongest members.

Aria uses Airspace, a variation of Air Magic that manipulates areas of air around his targets. His attacks are largely invisible, making them difficult to read and evade.

One of his most dangerous abilities drains magical power from an opponent, weakening the victim severely. He uses this against Makarov Dreyar during Phantom Lord's opening strike, removing enough of Makarov's magic to leave him unable to continue fighting.

Aria normally wears a blindfold to restrain his power. When he removes it, his Airspace becomes considerably more dangerous, including techniques capable of creating explosive zones around targets.

His status as the strongest Element 4 member reflects both the unusual nature of Airspace and its ability to incapacitate powerful mages without relying entirely on direct physical damage.

Aria plays an important role in Phantom Lord's initial attack on Fairy Tail. While the guilds clash, he approaches Makarov and uses Airspace to drain the guild master's magical power.

Makarov's incapacitation leaves Fairy Tail without its strongest leader during a critical portion of the war and gives Phantom Lord a major tactical advantage.

Aria later encounters Erza Scarlet, who has already exhausted herself protecting the guild from Jupiter's magical cannon. Despite releasing his restrained power, Aria is defeated by Erza before he can turn the battle back in Phantom Lord's favor.

After Phantom Lord's dissolution, Aria largely disappears from the central story, though he later contributes magical power through Meredy's connection when numerous mages unite to help Lucy cast Fairy Sphere against Acnologia.

Jose Porla is Aria's guild master and the person under whose command the Element 4 fights Fairy Tail.

Juvia Lockser, Sol, and Totomaru are Aria's fellow members of the Element 4.

Makarov Dreyar is one of Aria's most important targets during the Phantom Lord war; Aria drains his magic and temporarily removes him from the battle.

Erza Scarlet confronts Aria after he removes his blindfold and defeats him despite having already suffered significant exhaustion.
