Juvia Lockser

Juvia begins as gloomy, quiet, and emotionally isolated. Rain has accompanied her since childhood, causing other people to blame her for ruined outings and weather, and she internalizes the idea that her presence makes others unhappy.

After meeting Gray, her personality becomes far more energetic and expressive. She develops an intense romantic obsession with him, frequently imagining elaborate scenarios involving marriage, rivals, and secret affection that exist largely in her own head.

Despite the comedy surrounding that obsession, Juvia is fundamentally compassionate and loyal. She forms deep attachments to Fairy Tail's members and repeatedly places herself in danger for people she considers family.

Juvia uses Water Magic with exceptional control. She creates powerful waves, cutting water blades, pressurized attacks, restraints, whirlpools, and water-based defensive techniques.

Water Body allows her physical form to become water, causing many conventional attacks to pass through harmlessly. The ability makes her particularly difficult to injure through ordinary close-range combat, though magic that freezes, absorbs, or otherwise counters water can bypass that advantage.

Juvia can also perform Unison Raids with compatible allies, most notably Gray. Her emotions can dramatically increase the intensity and temperature of her water, including producing scalding attacks when enraged.

Juvia enters the story during Phantom Lord's war against Fairy Tail. Alongside Sol, she is ordered to capture Lucy as part of Jose's campaign against the guild.

Her battle with Gray becomes transformative. Gray defeats her, but the storm that has followed Juvia for years disappears during the confrontation, allowing her to see clear blue sky and associate that change with him.

After Phantom Lord collapses, Juvia begins following Fairy Tail and eventually joins the guild herself. She quickly develops friendships despite initially treating Lucy as an imagined romantic rival for Gray.

Juvia later becomes a regular participant in Fairy Tail's major conflicts, fighting during the Battle of Fairy Tail, Tenrou Island, Grand Magic Games, Tartaros, Alvarez, and subsequent events.

Gray Fullbuster is the central person in Juvia's emotional life. She falls deeply in love with him after their first battle and spends much of the series pursuing his affection.

Lucy Heartfilia is initially labeled Juvia's "love rival" because of a misunderstanding about Gray, but the two become genuine friends and comrades.

Meredy forms an unexpected emotional connection with Juvia during their battle on Tenrou Island, leading Juvia to show extraordinary compassion toward an enemy.

Jose Porla is Juvia's original guild master in Phantom Lord.

Gajeel Redfox is another former Phantom Lord mage who later joins Fairy Tail, giving the two a shared history before their new guild.

Makarov Dreyar accepts Juvia into Fairy Tail after Phantom Lord's dissolution.
