Alvida

Alvida is vain, domineering and quick to punish dissent. She repeatedly asks subordinates to identify the most beautiful woman on the sea and expects her own name as the only safe answer.

Defeat does little to soften her. She becomes intrigued by Luffy because he is the first man to strike her and remains willing to cooperate with other pirates when their goals overlap.

Alvida is more pragmatic than Buggy during several of their joint appearances. She does not share every obsession of his crew and readily abandons plans that appear certain to end in disaster.

Before eating a Devil Fruit, Alvida possesses considerable physical strength and wields a heavy iron mace. She can kill or severely injure ordinary people with it, though Luffy defeats her easily.

The Paramecia-type Sube Sube no Mi makes her skin extremely smooth. Physical objects and most attacks slide off her body, while friction no longer impedes her movement.

The fruit also changes her outward appearance by causing excess body mass to slip away. Her freckles remain the only feature she identifies as unchanged.

Alvida continues carrying her mace after acquiring the fruit, combining its striking power with her defensive ability. No Haki or named advanced techniques have been established for her.

Alvida is the first pirate captain Luffy defeats after beginning his voyage. She has held Koby aboard her ship for two years after he accidentally boarded it while fishing.

Luffy encourages Koby to state his true opinion of Alvida and pursue his Marine dream. Koby calls her an ugly old hag, prompting an attack that Luffy intercepts before defeating her.

Alvida later finds Buggy after his defeat in Orange Town. Their shared interest in Luffy produces the Buggy and Alvida Alliance, which nearly executes him in Loguetown before a lightning strike destroys the platform.

She accompanies Buggy into the Grand Line but does not join his Impel Down or Marineford adventures. She later appears among the figures associated with Buggy’s Delivery organization and his enlarged pirate following.

Koby is Alvida’s former captive and chore boy. She maintains control through fear until Monkey D. Luffy gives him an opportunity to resist.

Luffy is the first person to defeat Alvida and the target of her subsequent pursuit. She claims attraction to him after their encounter, though their relationship remains antagonistic.

Buggy becomes Alvida’s ally after they meet in the East Blue. They share command during the Loguetown pursuit, and Alvida later benefits from the organization and prestige that accumulate around him.

Mohji, Cabaji and the other Buggy Pirates accept Alvida as an allied captain. She remains distinct from their internal competition for control when Buggy is absent.
