Yuusuke

Yuusuke is friendly, playful and energetic. He gets along easily with classmates and is willing to joke with Kyou without treating his temper as something frightening.

He and Hiroshi often operate as a pair, enthusiastically commenting on school events and drawing other students into casual conversations. Their teasing is affectionate even when Kyou reacts loudly.

Yuusuke also shares the class's curiosity about romance, grades and future plans, making his appearances firmly rooted in the ordinary concerns of teenage school life.

Yuusuke has no supernatural abilities and possesses no specialized skill emphasized by the story.

He participates in ordinary classroom activities and games, including poker with Saki. His complete separation from the Zodiac curse is part of what makes his friendship with Kyou meaningful.

Yuusuke appears throughout the Kaibara school material, generally alongside Hiroshi. The two help establish that Kyou gradually develops genuine friendships rather than interacting only with Tooru and the Souma family.

He joins classmates during festivals, discussions about schoolwork and conversations about future careers. As Kyou becomes more socially open near the end of the story, Yuusuke and the other students openly celebrate the change in their friend.

Kyou Souma is Yuusuke's friend and frequent target for affectionate teasing. Yuusuke and Hiroshi call him "Kyon-Kyon," a nickname Kyou strongly dislikes.

Hiroshi is Yuusuke's closest recurring companion, and the two participate in most school scenes together.

Saki Hanajima plays poker with Yuusuke and the other classmates and earns a reputation among them as extremely difficult to beat.

Arisa Uotani and Tooru Honda are part of Yuusuke's wider group of school friends.
