Yoshiaki Hara

Hara is friendly, welcoming, and enthusiastic about technology. He readily demonstrates the Tokiwa Group's experimental software to Conan's group and allows the children to try a machine capable of generating predictions of their appearances ten years in the future.

He also has a conspicuous fondness for chocolate, offering it to visitors and eating chocolate cake at home. This seemingly minor habit becomes relevant when police attempt to interpret evidence left at a crime scene.

Hara is an accomplished computer programmer and technology executive. He demonstrates a sophisticated image-processing system that estimates how a person's face will change over ten years, indicating substantial expertise in software development.

Hara also possesses enough computer expertise to gain unauthorized access to Black Organization data. This activity places him in direct danger from the syndicate.

Hara meets Conan and the Detective Boys during their tour of the Tokiwa Group showroom. He demonstrates the company's age-progression machine and later overhears Ai Haibara making a suspicious telephone call.

Hara subsequently contacts Conan after learning that Haibara had behaved similarly during a recent camping trip. When Conan and the Detective Boys visit Hara's apartment, they find him shot dead. Gin has killed Hara because he hacked into the Black Organization's computer network.

Hara deliberately leaves a silver knife in his hand as a dying message pointing toward Gin, whose codename refers to the alcoholic drink. His murder is separate from the killings committed by Hosui Kisaragi, although Kisaragi later places one of his broken sake cups at Hara's apartment to make the crimes appear connected.

Mio Tokiwa is Hara's employer and president of the Tokiwa Group.

Conan Edogawa meets Hara during the Twin Towers tour and becomes involved in investigating his later activities.

Ai Haibara attracts Hara's attention when he overhears one of her secretive telephone calls.

Gin kills Hara after discovering that Hara accessed confidential Black Organization information.

Hosui Kisaragi uses Hara's murder to help disguise the pattern of his own killings by leaving a broken sake cup at Hara's apartment.
