Black Maiden

Black Maiden is abrasive, confrontational and foulmouthed despite the refined image suggested by her chosen title. She is fixated on becoming the ultimate maiden and associates that goal with obtaining the strength of Tao Jeanne, the former Iron Maiden.

Her allegiance to Team YVS is not based on genuine devotion to its leadership. She despises the Lasso family's manipulation and particularly resents Spimea Lasso. Her parents are used as leverage to keep her cooperating, giving her a strong personal reason to resent the organization she serves.

Black Maiden's apparent willingness to commit murder is also complicated by manipulated memories. At a crucial point in her past, she hesitates rather than taking a life, but Yohsuke alters her understanding of what happened afterward.

Black Maiden is a shaman capable of creating an armor-type Over Soul. Her principal manifestation is O.S. Jeanne Schwarz, which surrounds her with a dark floating structure modeled after an iron maiden. Its appearance incorporates upper-body armor and a spiked headpiece.

Jeanne Schwarz can use Hold of Death, in which the iron-maiden structure closes around an opponent and drives its internal spikes and blades into the target.

The spirit powering this Over Soul is Tao Jeanne herself. Black Maiden uses the faceplate from Jeanne's Iron Maiden as her medium. She seeks Shamash as well, believing that possessing both Jeanne and her former god-class spirit will complete her ideal of becoming the ultimate maiden.

Black Maiden enters Flowers as a member of Team YVS and Yohsuke's Helper. Her dark maiden imagery immediately connects her to the legacy of Iron Maiden Jeanne, while her activities place her against the younger generation assembled around Team Hao.

Red Crimson reveals the circumstances under which she acquired Jeanne. Yohsuke and Dong Yonhon bring Black Maiden to Jeanne with the intention of having her kill the former X-Laws leader and claim her spirit. Black Maiden hesitates. Jeanne, recognizing the girl's situation, chooses to have Shamash pass judgment on herself rather than force the child to become a murderer.

Before Shamash can act, Yohsuke stops time and shoots Jeanne himself. He then has a false memory implanted in Black Maiden, causing her to believe that she fired the fatal shot. Black Maiden subsequently receives Jeanne's spirit while Shamash passes to Tao Men.

She later confronts Men at Funbari Onsen and continues operating alongside Team YVS during the preparations for the Flower of Maize, even as her hatred of the Lasso family leaves her loyalty increasingly unstable.

Yohsuke Kamogawa is Black Maiden's commander in Team YVS. He exploits her desire for strength and has her memories altered so that she believes she killed Jeanne.

Tao Jeanne is the woman Black Maiden idolizes as the model for the ultimate maiden. Jeanne becomes Black Maiden's Guardian Ghost after Yohsuke kills her.

Tao Men is Jeanne's son and possesses Shamash, making him directly relevant to Black Maiden's ambition to acquire the full power she associates with the Iron Maiden.

Shamash is Jeanne's former Guardian Ghost and another spirit Black Maiden desires.

Spimea Lasso is deeply hated by Black Maiden, who resents the Lasso family's manipulation and the pressure exerted through her parents.

Dong Yonhon accompanies Yohsuke and Black Maiden during the operation targeting Jeanne.
