Ying

Yin is quiet, disciplined, and unwaveringly loyal to Sōjirō Kusaka. She rarely speaks independently, instead coordinating with her sister and following Kusaka’s orders without questioning his treatment of them.

She is more controlled than Yang but equally ruthless. Yin participates in attacking a royal convoy, abducting the Ōin, and attempting to kill anyone interfering with Kusaka’s revenge.

Yin’s unnamed Zanpakutō is stored horizontally in the Hollow-mask remnant behind her head. In its compact state, it resembles a short, needle-like jian with a blue tassel. When drawn, it extends into a long flexible whip surrounded by electricity.

She can lash opponents from a distance, release lightning through the whip, and combine her electricity with Yang’s flames. Their coordinated elemental attacks are strong enough to seriously injure Ichigo Kurosaki.

After Kusaka activates the Ōin, Yin assumes a gigantic Hollow form. This transformation increases her size and durability and permits regeneration inside the artificial dimension sustained by the Ōin.

Yin attacks the procession transporting the Ōin and fights Rangiku Matsumoto while Yang draws Tōshirō Hitsugaya toward Kusaka. The twins later pursue Hitsugaya into the Human World and engage Ichigo.

During a second confrontation, Yin and Yang are ordered to eliminate Rukia Kuchiki. Uryū Ishida and Yasutora Sado eventually remain behind to occupy them while Ichigo and Rukia follow Kusaka to Soul Society.

After the injured twins return to Kusaka, he freezes them and abandons them. The Ōin subsequently transforms them into giant Hollows, but both disappear permanently when Ichigo and Hitsugaya defeat Kusaka and collapse the dimension sustaining them.

Yang is Yin’s twin sister and constant combat partner. Their contrasting fire and lightning abilities are designed to operate together.

Sōjirō Kusaka is their leader. Yin remains loyal even though he ultimately treats both sisters as disposable servants.

Ichigo Kurosaki, Rukia Kuchiki, Uryū Ishida, and Yasutora Sado oppose the twins in the Human World. Yoruichi Shihōin and Suì-Fēng later fight their transformed bodies.
