Touya

Touya is serious, composed and considerably more restrained than his close companion Jin. He analyzes opponents carefully and rarely allows emotion to disrupt his technique.

He possesses a clear sense of honor despite his willingness to exploit tactical advantages during battle. Touya objects when Team Masho's leadership relies on corrupt tournament officials rather than legitimate victories.

His loyalty to his companions is also pronounced. He approaches his match with Kurama partly determined to avenge Gama, yet develops respect for Kurama after experiencing his skill and mercy firsthand.

Touya is an accomplished ice manipulator. He can freeze moisture in the surrounding air and shape it into offensive weapons with considerable precision.

His Shards of Winter technique creates sharp ice projectiles that can be fired rapidly at opponents. He can also form an ice sword around his hand for close combat.

Touya's Frozen Hell technique lowers the temperature over an area and freezes the environment around him, restricting opponents and providing material for further attacks.

After training under Genkai, Touya's power rises dramatically into S-Class territory. The range and intensity of his freezing abilities increase correspondingly, allowing him to affect vastly larger areas.

Touya enters the Dark Tournament as one of Team Masho's fighters and follows Gama into battle against Kurama. Gama's lingering seal leaves Kurama unable to access most of his demonic energy, giving Touya an enormous advantage.

Touya attacks with ice projectiles and an ice blade while Kurama attempts to survive long enough to create an opening. Kurama deliberately allows Touya to wound his arm so that he can implant a plant within the injury and use it to incapacitate Touya. Kurama wins while deliberately avoiding a fatal strike.

After the match, Touya condemns Rishou for exploiting corrupt officiating against Team Urameshi.

Kurama later recruits Touya to train under Genkai. After becoming vastly stronger, Touya travels to Demon World, initially joins Yomi's forces and subsequently participates in Yusuke's Demon World Tournament.

Jin is Touya's longtime fellow shinobi and closest recurring companion. Their contrasting personalities are balanced by mutual loyalty and respect.

Kurama defeats Touya during the Dark Tournament but deliberately spares him. Touya later accepts Kurama's invitation to train and join his Demon World plans.

Gama is Touya's teammate, and Touya enters his fight with Kurama determined to avenge Gama's defeat.

Rishou leads Team Masho but clashes with Touya over the use of dishonest tournament tactics.

Genkai later trains Touya and helps him achieve an enormous increase in demonic power.

Chuu, Rinku, Suzuki and Shishiwakamaru train alongside Touya before traveling to Demon World.

Yusuke Urameshi eventually becomes an ally when Touya supports the political changes surrounding the Demon World Tournament.
