Chuu

Chuu is boisterous, impulsive and enthusiastic about combat. He drinks heavily and speaks without much restraint, but his rough behavior does not make him needlessly cruel. He values direct contests of strength and quickly respects opponents willing to fight him on equal terms.

His personality meshes unusually well with Yusuke's. Neither fighter is satisfied by technical victories or elaborate excuses, and both are willing to push themselves beyond reasonable limits simply to discover who is stronger.

Chuu also possesses a strong sense of personal honor. When conventional techniques fail to settle a fight, he prefers a mutually dangerous contest rather than manipulation or outside interference.

Chuu is a powerful hand-to-hand combatant whose specialty is Drunken Fist. After consuming alcohol, his movements become erratic and difficult to predict without sacrificing speed or striking power.

He can combine alcohol with demon energy to produce a concentrated sphere of power called the Ogre Killer in the English anime. The projectile contains enough energy to clash directly with Yusuke's Spirit Gun.

Chuu's physical durability and stamina are exceptional. Even after exhausting much of his supernatural energy, he remains capable of continuing a prolonged close-range fight.

Training under Genkai later raises Chuu's demonic power dramatically, eventually placing him among the S-Class demons participating in the Demon World Tournament.

Chuu appears during Team Urameshi's opening round of the Dark Tournament. After losing a game used by his team to determine its fighting order, he is initially kept in reserve despite being Team Rokuyukai's strongest member.

He ultimately enters as the final fighter against Yusuke. Their supernatural techniques eventually leave both men depleted, leading Chuu to propose a Knife-Edge Death Match in which neither fighter can retreat without conceding defeat.

Yusuke wins the contest after an extended exchange of headbutts, but refuses to kill Chuu afterward. The two develop mutual respect.

Much later, Kurama recruits Chuu and sends him to train under Genkai. Chuu enters Demon World with the other former Dark Tournament fighters and participates in Yusuke's Demon World Tournament, where he becomes attracted to Natsume.

Yusuke Urameshi is Chuu's Dark Tournament opponent and later friend. Their fight establishes a mutual respect based on their similar love of combat.

Rinku is Chuu's teammate from Team Rokuyukai and remains associated with him after the tournament.

Kurama later recruits Chuu as part of the group of demons trained for service under Yomi.

Genkai trains Chuu and helps him reach a dramatically higher level of demonic power.

Jin, Touya, Suzuki and Shishiwakamaru train alongside Chuu before entering the Demon World Tournament.

Natsume attracts Chuu immediately during the Demon World Tournament, and his feelings for her continue after their encounter.
