Tooru Kishiri

Tooru is rude, boastful and careless about what he says. He takes pride in being a Third Generation pyrokinetic and initially looks down on people who lack an Ignition Ability, including Akitaru Ōbi.

His reasons for becoming a Fire Soldier are far less solemn than those of many of his colleagues. Tooru hopes that being a pyrokinetic firefighter will make him attractive to girls, and his behavior around women reflects that preoccupation.

Despite his arrogance, Tooru can cooperate effectively when a serious threat emerges. Once Companies 5 and 8 stop treating each other as enemies, he participates in joint operations rather than clinging to the earlier rivalry.

Tooru is a Third Generation pyrokinetic whose Ignition Ability is Backdraft Bubblish Gum. He blows bubblegum balloons containing flammable gas in a low-oxygen interior. When the bubbles burst and the gas meets atmospheric oxygen, they explode.

The bubbles float and can be positioned away from Tooru before detonation, giving him a useful medium-range attack. He can also exploit cover while sending explosive bubbles toward opponents.

His ability is particularly effective when combined with another explosive fighter. Tooru later coordinates his bubbles with Takeru Noto's missile-like flames to bombard White-Clad forces.

Tooru appears during the growing conflict between Companies 5 and 8. He insults Company 8 and Akitaru's lack of pyrokinetic power, helping escalate tensions between the brigades before Maki Oze abruptly puts him in his place.

When Company 8 infiltrates Company 5, Tooru fights Maki and Takehisa Hinawa. He hides while attacking with explosive bubbles, but Hinawa uses his bullet-control abilities to ricochet shots around Tooru's cover.

After the companies reconcile, Tooru joins the inter-company training assignment at Company 1. He later participates in operations against the White-Clad, including the struggle surrounding the Fifth Pillar.

Princess Hibana is Tooru's captain in Company 5, and he operates as one of the brigade's frontline Fire Soldiers.

Maki Oze clashes with Tooru during the hostility between Companies 5 and 8 and quickly demonstrates that his arrogance toward the opposing brigade is misplaced.

Takehisa Hinawa defeats Tooru by using controlled ricochet shots to bypass his hiding place.

Takeru Noto becomes Tooru's most notable combat partner, with the two combining their explosive Ignition Abilities against White-Clad enemies.

Shinra Kusakabe and Arthur Boyle interact with Tooru during the early Company 5 confrontation and later during the training assignment at Company 1.

Huo Yan Li is assigned as Tooru's sparring opponent during the Company 1 training period, although Huo Yan has little interest in an unnecessary fight.
