Shouta

Shouta shares the loud, upbeat and highly social personality associated with Hanzawa's group of housemates. Parties and group activities are central to their lifestyle, and they remain remarkably cheerful despite living in a city notorious for violent crime.

The group's outlook is essentially to enjoy the present because Beika is so dangerous that tomorrow cannot be taken for granted. Shouta participates in this deliberately exaggerated philosophy, which Makoto Hanzawa finds both ridiculous and, at times, strangely understandable.

Shouta is an ordinary civilian with no established fighting ability, detective training or supernatural powers. The spin-off does not develop him as an action-oriented character.

His role instead comes through the share-house group's social activities. He participates in the parties and gatherings that form part of their lifestyle, helping establish the peculiar culture Hanzawa encounters after moving into communal housing.

Shouta appears after Makoto Hanzawa has settled into the Beika share house. He becomes part of the recurring ensemble of residents whose parties, employment and social routines repeatedly intersect with Hanzawa's efforts to survive in the city.

His appearances remain deliberately minor. Along with the other partygoers, Shouta helps populate the everyday side of The Culprit Hanzawa and demonstrates how completely ordinary residents have adapted to the absurd dangers of Beika.

Makoto Hanzawa is Shouta's fellow share-house resident. Their lifestyles differ sharply, with Makoto Hanzawa frequently worrying about expenses and danger while Shouta and his friends prioritize enjoying themselves.

Rika, Rikio, Yuika, Kenji, Nana, Anna and Oji belong to the same wider group of housemates and partygoers with whom Shouta socializes.
