Personality
Personality
Takano is confident and energetic, sharing the self-assurance of a Shoyo team accustomed to being counted among Kanagawa's strongest programs.
He is willing to exploit weaknesses once he notices them, particularly against an inexperienced opponent. Unlike outright delinquent or deliberately dirty players, however, his physical approach remains rooted in competitive basketball.
His confidence is challenged by Sakuragi, whose lack of conventional experience makes him simultaneously easy to provoke and unexpectedly difficult to control physically.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Takano's greatest advantages are height and rebounding. At 193 cm, he would be large enough to play center for many high-school teams, yet Shoyo can use him at power forward because Hanagata is even taller.
Together with Nagano and Hanagata, he helps create a frontcourt that can contest rebounds and obstruct passing lanes through sheer length. This size is a central element of Shoyo's defensive pressure.
Takano is less technically refined than Shoyo's stars. His contribution comes principally from physical play, positioning and work near the basket rather than advanced individual scoring moves.
Story Role
Story Role
Takano starts against Shohoku in the elimination stage of the Kanagawa tournament. Shoyo initially uses its height to restrict Shohoku's offense while Fujima remains on the bench.
Sakuragi's matchup with Shoyo's big men becomes increasingly important. Although inexperienced, his jumping ability allows him to compete for rebounds against players who should possess an enormous technical advantage.
Sakuragi eventually becomes a major factor on the boards, undermining one of Shoyo's greatest strengths. Shohoku wins the close game and eliminates Takano's team from the tournament.
Relationships
Relationships
Mitsuru Nagano is Takano's fellow third-year forward and frequent partner within Shoyo's tall frontcourt.

Hanamichi Sakuragi challenges Takano and the other Shoyo big men through his extraordinary rebounding ability.
Kazushi Hasegawa and Taku Itou complete the starting group around Takano before Kenji Fujima enters the Shohoku game.
