Slam Dunk

Kazushi Hasegawa

長谷川 一志

Story Role

Hasegawa's central storyline emerges during Shohoku's elimination game against Shoyo. Before the match, he recalls Mitsui's superiority during junior high and the later shock of seeing him living as a delinquent rather than playing basketball.

Confident in his own development, Hasegawa volunteers to contain Mitsui and declares that he will hold him below five points. The statement becomes powerful motivation for Mitsui.

Mitsui eventually breaks through Shoyo's defense and scores 20 points, including a succession of three-pointers that erases Shoyo's lead. Hasegawa's attempt to prove how far he has progressed instead becomes part of Mitsui's competitive resurgence.
