Shiro Suzuki

Shiro is mild-mannered, polite and generally approachable. He does not display the arrogance that might be expected from the head of one of Japan's wealthiest families and treats both relatives and acquaintances cordially.

He can become angry when the Suzuki family's possessions or reputation are directly challenged. Kaitou Kid's notice concerning the Black Star provokes an unusually forceful reaction from him, showing that his easygoing disposition has limits.

Shiro is also interested in martial arts. After learning about Makoto Kyogoku's exceptional karate record, he reacts with enthusiasm rather than hostility and asks the young fighter to tell him more about his matches.

Shiro has no established combat or detective abilities. His principal influence comes from his position as chairman of the Suzuki family, giving him access to enormous financial and corporate resources.

His interest in martial arts is genuine, but the series does not establish that he personally practices a fighting discipline. Unlike several other members of his extended family, Shiro generally remains away from dangerous confrontations and allows professional security personnel or law enforcement to deal with threats.

Shiro is introduced during the Black Star case, when Kaitou Kid announces that he intends to steal the Suzuki family's valuable pearl. Shiro joins his family and the police in responding to the threat, bringing Conan Edogawa, Ran Mouri and Kogoro Mouri into one of the earliest major confrontations with Kid.

He appears much less frequently than his daughter Sonoko Suzuki or his relative Jirokichi Suzuki. His appearances generally concern family events, Suzuki property or people close to Sonoko.

Shiro later meets Makoto Kyogoku, Sonoko's boyfriend. Rather than immediately challenging the relationship, Shiro is impressed by Makoto's extraordinary karate accomplishments and shows personal interest in hearing about his fighting career.

Tomoko Suzuki is Shiro's wife and the formidable matriarch of the Suzuki household. Her stronger personality frequently contrasts with Shiro's relaxed and accommodating demeanor.

Sonoko Suzuki is Shiro's younger daughter. He is affectionate toward her and is considerably less demanding about her behavior and romantic life than Tomoko Suzuki.

Ayako Suzuki is Shiro's elder daughter and another member of the Suzuki family.

Jirokichi Suzuki is Shiro's older cousin and a senior adviser to the Suzuki Financial Group. Jirokichi Suzuki's repeated public challenges against Kaitou Kid make him the family member most closely associated with the thief in later cases.

Makoto Kyogoku is Sonoko Suzuki's boyfriend. Shiro reacts positively to the karate champion and expresses interest in his martial-arts achievements.

Kaitou Kid targets valuable treasures belonging to Shiro's family. Their first confrontation comes when the thief announces his intention to steal the Black Star, provoking an unusually angry response from the normally placid chairman.
