Sekiguchi

Sekiguchi receives little individual characterization beyond his history with Nakanishi and his place among the older prefab players.

His previous poor relationship with Nakanishi reflects the tension that existed between some of the older and younger players before they became high-school teammates.

Sekiguchi plays second base and bats third for Maeno's original prefab lineup. His defensive role places him in the middle infield, where he works with the shortstop on force plays and coverage around second base.

No distinctive batting technique or exceptional defensive specialty is established for him.

Sekiguchi is one of the third-year players who participates in the prefab team's first practice game against Daimon's favored varsity. The match gives the older students an opportunity to challenge the hierarchy imposed on Seishuu's baseball club.

Sekiguchi retires after the first practice game. His departure, along with several other third-years, forces Maeno to rebuild the prefab starting lineup before the decisive rematch.

Daiki Nakanishi has known Sekiguchi since junior high, when the two did not get along.
