Sayaka Mine

Sayaka is sensible, assertive, compassionate, and far more accustomed to ordinary modern life than Yaiba. His wild upbringing and lack of social awareness frequently frustrate her, leading to arguments and comic confrontations.

She nevertheless demonstrates considerable courage. Even after Yaiba's rivalry with Onimaru becomes a supernatural conflict involving demons and legendary weapons, Sayaka continues traveling with the group.

Her relationship with Yaiba gradually grows beyond simple exasperation. She worries about him during dangerous battles and often acts as one of the people capable of keeping his impulsive behavior grounded.

Sayaka is not initially a supernatural fighter and lacks the swordsmanship of Yaiba, Onimaru, and Musashi. Her contributions instead rely on courage, quick thinking, and practical support.

She becomes experienced at surviving supernatural battles through prolonged exposure to Yaiba's adventures and is capable of acting decisively when her companions are threatened.

Sayaka is eventually revealed to have an extraordinary supernatural connection to the Dragon Maiden, making her essential to Kaguya's plans and to the conflict surrounding Kaguya's true form.

Sayaka meets Yaiba when Kenjuro encounters her father in Japan. Yaiba subsequently stays at the Mine residence, bringing Sayaka into his rivalry with Onimaru.

She accompanies Yaiba during the search for the Thunder God's Sword and remains with his group as their journey expands across Japan. Her role repeatedly places her in danger, including abductions by Onimaru's servants.

During the Kaguya conflict, Sayaka's hidden connection to the Dragon Maiden makes her a central target and elevates her importance beyond that of an ordinary traveling companion.

Yaiba Kurogane is Sayaka's closest companion and frequent source of frustration. Their constant arguments coexist with growing affection, and their relationship develops into an explicit romantic bond.

Raizo Mine is Sayaka's father, while Shizuka Mine is her mother.

Kenjuro Kurogane is an old friend and rival of Sayaka's father whose return to Japan brings Yaiba into the Mine household.

Kagetora, Musashi Miyamoto, and Gerozaimon Geroda are among Sayaka's regular companions during her travels with Yaiba.
