Gerozaimon Geroda

Gerozaimon is comparatively gentle and good-natured for one of the demons serving Onimaru. He initially carries out his orders against Yaiba but lacks the cruelty and unwavering loyalty displayed by more dangerous enemies.

He is also comical, expressive, and capable of forming genuine attachments. Once separated from Onimaru's forces, he adapts readily to traveling with people he had previously fought.

Gerozaimon possesses enhanced strength and durability appropriate to his demonic body. His preferred fighting style relies heavily on close-range attacks, including powerful body slams reminiscent of sumo techniques.

His frog physiology provides additional weapons. He can extend his long tongue to grab or strike targets and is capable of wielding axes in combat.

As one of the Eight Demons, he is substantially more dangerous than an ordinary frog or human despite his increasingly comic role.

Gerozaimon is among the first of Onimaru's demonic servants sent against Yaiba. He kidnaps Sayaka Mine and confronts Yaiba during the latter's pursuit of the Thunder God's Sword.

After repeatedly failing to defeat Yaiba, Gerozaimon is abandoned by Onimaru, who sends another demon to eliminate both Yaiba and his unsuccessful subordinate. With nowhere to return, Gerozaimon changes sides and joins Yaiba's group.

He thereafter travels alongside Yaiba, Sayaka, Musashi Miyamoto, Kagetora, and the group's other companions, contributing both physical strength and comic relief during later adventures.

Yaiba Kurogane begins as Gerozaimon's assigned enemy. After Gerozaimon is abandoned by Onimaru, he becomes one of Yaiba's recurring allies and traveling companions.

Takeshi Onimaru is Gerozaimon's original master and the leader whose orders send him against Yaiba. Onimaru eventually regards Gerozaimon as expendable after his failures.

Sayaka Mine is initially kidnapped by Gerozaimon but later travels alongside him as part of Yaiba's group.

Kagetora and Musashi Miyamoto become Gerozaimon's fellow traveling companions after his change of allegiance.
