Sango

Sango is insecure, self-important and eager to enjoy the authority that the collapse of society has unexpectedly given him. The disaster offers him social importance he did not possess in ordinary life.

He presents himself as the community's leader, but his position depends heavily on Iura's intelligence and willingness to handle difficult decisions.

Sango's behavior illustrates how quickly a refuge can reproduce hierarchy and exploitation even when everyone inside faces the same external threat.

Sango has no established supernatural abilities or specialized martial discipline.

His principal asset is social position. As the public leader of the outlet survivors, he can issue orders, allocate access and participate in decisions determining who remains protected on the roof.

That authority is less secure than it appears because Iura possesses greater strategic insight and a more effective ranged weapon.

Sango establishes himself as ruler among the people who survive on the outlet mall roof. When Hideo Suzuki and Hiromi Hayakari arrive, their presence disrupts the existing balance.

Hideo's shotgun represents a level of firepower the group has lacked, while Hiromi's unusual condition introduces a danger that does not fit the community's simple distinction between infected and uninfected.

The outlet hierarchy ultimately collapses as the ZQN breach the survivors' position. Sango's title and social control offer little protection once the physical security underpinning the community disappears.

Iura is Sango's most important partner within the outlet hierarchy. Although Sango appears to rule, Iura is more analytical and functions as the community's de facto decision-maker.

Hideo Suzuki is valuable to Sango because of his shotgun and therefore immediately affects the balance of power within the refuge.

Hiromi Hayakari arrives with Hideo in an anomalous condition that complicates the group's security.

Tsugumi Oda is one of the people living under the outlet community's exploitative hierarchy before she escapes.
